The thing that jumped out at me is that in the thread someone mentions having McAfee installed (which, as a side note, McAfee tells you to disable WD before doing the install). Another poster says that their computer will become unresponsive for like 10-20 seconds, and then return to normal. Yet, nothing ever shows up in the event logs for that.
My Girlfriend actually has that problem (unresponsive). She is running McAfee enterprise 8.8 (same version as I am), but I believe that WD is still active on her Windows 7 system.
So, what I'm getting at here is do you have any third party Virus Scan software installed? I do recall that if you do, you must disable / turn off WD.
I know for me, I'm running McAfee Enterprise 8.8 Patch #3 on Windows 8 Pro. While I did not "officially" turn off WD, I wonder if I should look for a way to do so.
In your case, if you are running some kind of third party virus scanner, the article mentions that you remove it, and just use WD. Of course since this is Microsoft, they won't tell you to just disable WD, and use your 3rd party tool!
So, not sure if that will help or not, but I thought I would pass that on to you.
