It will be exciting to mess with the various lists, once the bugs are ironed out. A ways to go from what I saw when I kicked the tires yesterday. |

Yeah, not interested in trying this until I see a final version. TPL lists are great... and do work, but they don't offer much in the way of customization. What many people can appreciate here is this new Adblock Plus will protect Internet Explorer users all the way back to at least IE6.0. |

And I haven't used IE since then either. With a few mods here and there 5.4/5.5 could fly. I hated 6 and never looked back. |

I did note that on non TLD sites that are loaded with pop-ups - pop-unders, without TPL's enabled but with Hosts running, all ads were blocked but TPL's helped suppress the remainder. Although those TPL's can't be customized. This would be an open testament to upgrading to Windows 7 in order to use IE 10. |

Interesting choice of TPL's mon ami ! You've done your homework The Google TPL is also available via: » ie.microsoft.com/testdri ··· ult.htmlThe fanboy list would have now been combined with EasyList at this point. |

I also use a personal TPL as shown in screenshot. Whereabouts as to where to create one of these escapes me now - more later. |

I've been using: » www.adblockie.com/en/ I may be crazy, but it seems to be doing a fairly decent job. It would be nice to see adblockplus as those bugs are ironed out with it. In the meantime, I am at least somewhat protected. |

Yup, I use that too! It's important to note that by default... PTPL is disabled, for whatever odd reason. |

It also helps to manually refresh this TPL as it will add new items as you browse. Also: expand that number to 30 sites |

said by siljaline:Also: expand that number to 30 sites Can you please explain or link to why I "should" do this? I remember choosing 10 for a specific reason. It was based on some research I did into what this function does. said by Paul Thurrott :By default, third party content that is used across ten or more of the sites you've visited is added to your personalized tracking protection list. You may find this number to be too aggressive, or not aggressive enough, however, so IE 9 lets you change the value to any number from 3 to 30. So I'm thinking I should decrease this number IF anything. Not increase it. To me it would appear that one should lower this number to increase filtering... to say "3". I have mine set to "10" this is probably why my list looks to have more listed blocked site trackers than your window shows set at "30" as evident by the scroll bar. Seth does a straight to the point explanation. It's based on the number of times a tracker has to appear on a number of sites before being blocked. So, if it's set to "30" sites, it won't get blocked until it appears after 30 sites. It it appears on "3" sites it won't get blocked until it appears after "3" sites. » cnettv.cnet.com/configur ··· 200.html |

I have no more information than I did when I first posted info on this personal TPL. My best guess was that a maximum amount set would use the most broad scope of adding nasty sites - having experimented with yours and Exidor 's observations - perhaps a lower value is better. |

The information I provided in my last posting about what that number was took a bit of Googling on my part. There isn't a lot of information on it. I must admit that it does appear to be worded strangely by Microsoft. |

I'm not surprised you found bits on Paul Thurrott's » winsupersite.com/The info from MS is scant and too bad for them and us. I asked the MVP Group on Facebook, nothing that we don't know already. Let's keep fiddling, at least we know it works and how to use it. |

Here's a neat little thread I found on how to add a "Malware Domains Tracking Protection List" to IE exactly the same way Adblock Plus users do. At this time, there doesn't appear to be an official published link, but a direct TPL list does exist! » www.wilderssecurity.com/ ··· t=347653 |

The Wilders thread points at this link: » www.malwaredomains.com/Based on the Wilders thread, perhaps it's a senior moment or I just don't know how to configure my own TPL's. Though, it makes me wonder if we were able to configure a malware domain TPL, would not conflict with standing protecting we generally use like MVPS Hosts and Spyware Blaster ? |

Came across the article and download last night on stumbleupon.
Being adventuresome, installed it and reloaded IE 10. Works just like it does in Firefox. No problems so far. Went to some sites that add a lot of ads - msn, yahoo, facebook, aarp and such.
It shows an icon on the lower status bar, clicking on it brings up a limited options page. Can choose to whitelist sites, whose list to use and another item, I forget.
Firefox and Chrome are my main browsers and only use IE for a couple of sites.

Under IE, it's too early of a Beta to use. TPL's as discussed in this thread seem to be working better for now in an IE situation. |
