[BC] Shaw internet very slow today.I am in Burnaby and have Shaw 50mbs, since this morning I have been getting like 1mbs and a lot of disconnects.
I have tried resetting both the modem and my router.
Anyone else have this problem? |

What sort of results do you get when directly connected to the modem? There was a packet loss issue a couple of days ago but that was resolved right away. » community.shaw.ca/docs/DOC-1012 Troubleshooting slow internet speeds guide |

yes I am having the same problem, the internet is very slow today (June 21st 2013), I've called their technical support, they said lota people are having the same issue, something related to their network as I reset my modem and router several times already...also it's related to the flooding that's currently happening, some of their network/server centres ran into problems...it's related to packets being sent to say 3 nodes, and 1 of them got flooded, the inquiry gets stuck and a second inquiry would have to be sent again through the 2 working nodes...now imagine that at a giant network scale with thousands of customers...wait about half a day, this usually gets resolved by shaw's internal IT team.. |

I live in Burnaby and my speed slowed to a crawl this morning. Called Shaw technical support and they said there was a problem somewhere in Burnaby as multiple users were affected. Still no change and it has been 7 hours. |

Some of my users were reporting issues in Burnaby yesterday and today. They complained about web pages slow to load or not loading at all, and "static" on both phone lines. I've been pinging them tonight and did notice some packet loss but it went away on its own before I could diagnose it further.
Curiously, while ping was timing out, the VNC session I had open was working normally.
I was speaking to a Shaw tech just now who stated he also saw the packet loss when pinging our router, but not either modem. He said the signal levels look good, and both the internet modem and phone modem have not lost connection in months. |

I've never seen a tracert like this before: C:\>tracert [redacted]
Tracing route to [redacted] [70.79.x.y]
over a maximum of 30 hops:
1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms AsusRTN16 [192.168.1.1]
2 31 ms 30 ms 32 ms d209-89-208-1.abhsia.telus.net [209.89.208.1]
3 33 ms 31 ms 30 ms 96.1.176.169
4 42 ms 38 ms 40 ms edtnabxmca01.bb.telus.com [75.154.215.105]
5 40 ms 43 ms 43 ms 96.1.252.94
6 60 ms 55 ms 62 ms 66.163.78.181
7 59 ms 59 ms 60 ms rc2wh-tge0-8-1-0.vc.shawcable.net [66.163.69.117]
8 57 ms 63 ms 62 ms 66.163.69.150
9 58 ms 55 ms 55 ms dx5bb-g3.vc.shawcable.net [64.59.150.14]

11 * * * Request timed out.
12 * * * Request timed out.
13 * * 65 ms [redacted].vc.shawcable.net [70.79.x.y]
Trace complete.
It has their IP address for both lines 10 and 13. Is that just because of the packet loss? While I did this, just-ping.com showed 70-100% packet loss from all checkpoints. But the pings I had running from that office (I SSH'd into their router) were completely normal. |

Today internet is normal but phone is worse. Audio quality issues only appear on the Shaw end (the caller sounds fine). We've a truck roll scheduled for tomorrow. |

My phone is offline too It was so bad I litterally am embarrised to even talk on it. But internet works barely and that I litterally thank god for. |
