| I'm getting a truly miserable download speed experience on Sprint's LTE, well below Sprint's minimum LTE speed spec of 6 mbps, which is posted on their Speeds tab at »shop2.sprint.com/en/shop/why_spr···13:4GLTE. But, strangely enough, my upload speed is well above Sprint's maximum LTE upload spec of 2-3 mpbs. Nevertheless my signal strength is quite good, six out of six bars according to my Tri-Fi, meaning 100%, with a dBm of -83 and a CINR of -10. Here are my speeds at the moment:

I'm finding this distinctly odd. One other poster also reported similar results at one location in Kansas, but was at a loss as to what might be explaining the anomaly.
Also this represents a small but significant improvement from last week, when my download speeds were actually slower than those for my WiMax connection (the download speeds I'm posting here today are comparable to my current WiMax connection). Just to dot the i's and cross the t's, I'm in midtown Manhattan, zip 10022.
One small consolation: at least I now have an LTE connection that is minimally better than my WiMax connection, which was not the case last week, when I would have to switch back and forth, depending on whether I needed to upload a file to my cloud or whether I needed to do everything else.
And, by way of full disclosure, I am a Wireless 'n' WiFi customer, and will not be a Millenicom customer after June 30th. |

| reply to Wartrace Upload is spec'ed alot more than 2-3mbps upload....I'm seeing uploads in the 12-13mbps..... This is at -86 signal. the slower reading at the top was about 8 miles from the tower. the higher ones were within 3 miles of the tower. this tower is being fed by fiber by charter communications I think...its the only other provider in this town that has that high of a speed. this was from SPRINT 4GLTE |

Here are my Sprint 4G WiMax speeds today:

And here are my Sprint 4G LTE speeds as of the last time I checked them:

I'm in midtown Manhattan, zip 10022. My WiMax signal strength is 80% on the Tri-Fi display with five bars out of six, with -48 dBm and a CINR of 10. My LTE signal strength is 100% on the display with six bars out of six, a signal strength of -79 dBm and a CINR of -19 at the moment.
As you can see, my WiMax performance is screamingly good at the moment, as good as it has ever been. On the other hand, my LTE performance, even though the signal strength according to the Tri-Fi is slightly better than the WiMax, 100% versus 80%, is quite miserable, noticeably below spec on the download side (Sprint's minimum LTE download spec is 6 megs). |

| Interesting; you've got the same LTE problem with Verizon Wireless as I have currently with my Sprint LTE.
According to Verizon Wireless at »www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/stor···eId=6397 , LTE download speed should be 5-12 megs and your upload speed should be 2-5 megs. By those standards your download is below spec and your upload is in spec.
That's almost the same situation I'm in. Sprint claims their LTE is 6-8 megs download, 2-3 megs upload. Yet here's what I'm getting today:

Meanwhile my WiMax is unspectacular but at least in spec. Sprint claims for WiMax download between 3-6, upload between .5 and 1.5. And here's what I'm getting:

Verizon just recently expanded coverage to service my address. Today is a bit of an off day as it has recently been testing at approx. double these speeds up and down. |

criggs join:2000-07-14 New York, NY | However it should be noted that these speeds are in spec, above Verizon's minimum specs of 5 megs and 2 megs respectively download/upload. |

In a rare bad-luck coincidence, both of my Sprint 4G services are poor today. The minimally better one at the moment is LTE, not on the basis of the download but the upload, and even there the LTE is giving me very up-and-down performance. Here's what I'm getting at the moment:

It also needs to be noted that this pattern is quite different from that which has been typical for me with LTE for the past few weeks. Previously to today, my ping was routinely in the 30 to 50 range; today it's hovering above 100. And before today I never had a problem with the upload, which was consistently above spec, usually averaging around 5 megs. In addition, my upload has been consistently faster than my download. So something has definitely changed, and changed dramatically.
Which, perhaps, doesn't explain why my Wimax is also in the toilet today.
A reminder that I'm in an area where Sprint has not yet officially pronounced the LTE ready for prime time.
Finally, just to provide the proper footnotes, the Tri-Fi is saying my signal strength is 100%, six bars out of six, my signal strength is -79 dBm and my CINR is -13. |

On Millenicom's Verizon 20GB Plan
RSSI -84 dBm SINR 21 dB
************************** **************************
Though not Sprint WiMax service through Millenicom, below are the results from Clearwire WiMax (same thing)

RSSI -85 dBm SINR 11 dB
The service absolutely sucks, but it's the only alternate "unlimited" service I have available to prevent Verizon from going over the monthly 20GB cap. I may just buy another Verizon 20GB plan to replace this atrocity. |

| said by Vix:Though not Sprint WiMax service through Millenicom, below are the results from Clearwire WiMax (same thing) That is NOT typical WiMax service. For example, here's what I'm getting today:

Keep in mind that, according to Sprint's Speeds tab on their specs page at »shop2.sprint.com/en/shop/why_spr···13:4GLTE , your MINIMUM download speed should be 3 megs on the WiMax. I have no doubt at all that you have a legitimate beef, and you need to contact your Sprint WiMax provider and let them know you are not, in any way, manner, shape or form, getting what you're paying for; demand that they fix that; that's absurd.
said by Vix:I may just buy another Verizon 20GB plan to replace this atrocity. I wouldn't blame you if you did; that's an okay deal if WiMax is not available in your 'hood. But I'd first try to get that WiMax abortion fixed. |

I'm glad I have the option of using Sprint 4g in my area. I had stuck with Verizons 3G service instead of even thinking about upgrading to 4G due to the lousy cap policy. Luckily Sprint activated 4G in my area and I was able to get more realistic service caps. |

Just got LTE in my area. There is no LTE signal according to the coverage maps, but I thought my old modem was broken so I bought a new U770 and was pleasantly surprised with LTE signal. |

By the way, I corrected your image link. When posting Speedtest results in this forum, you need to select the Forum option on the Speedtest results page to get the above result to post properly. |

1 edit | Here's how you post the Speedtest result in graphic form.
Go to the main web site (not the mobile site or the mobile ap) at »www.speedtest.net/ . After the blue map with the little dots completely loads, click the Begin Test button, and let the test happen, usually about 30 seconds or so.
When the test is complete, you should see a headline toward the top, highlighted with a green background, saying Share This Result. Click it.
At that point, in the center of the frame you should then see four Copy choices, Web, Image, Embed and Forum. Click Forum.
Then click Copy.
Then come here, write your message, and then, at the appropriate point in the text, paste your clipboard. At the time you're writing, all you'll see is a bunch of html gobbldygook. But once you post the message, it should come out like this:
That should do it. (That's my current WiMax reading which, as you can see, is in spec. My LTE is disgusting today, so I'm not using it. I'm in midtown Manhattan, zip 10022, WiMax signal shows up with five bars out of six on my Tri-Fi, 80%, signal strength of -50 dBm, and a CINR/RSRQ of +15. Still looking for someone to tell me how to interpret the CINR numbers; thanks!) |
