Re: Post your 4G speeds (verizon or Sprint) said by criggs:LTE is giving me very up-and-down performance...A reminder that I'm in an area where Sprint has not yet officially pronounced the LTE ready for prime time...[T]he Tri-Fi is saying my signal strength is 100%, six bars out of six, my signal strength is -79 dBm and my CINR is -13. One of those fly-by-night small hours sugar-highs? Or a sign that there has been a fundamental change in my Sprint LTE?

Here's what's got me hoping for the latter: Typically, even on those rare occasions when I got speeds in spec on the LTE, I would observe unstable up-and-down performance when watching a bandwidth meter while downloading a large file. In other words, even occasionally when the speeds were good, the pattern was volatile.
I'm not observing any volatility like that at all at the moment.
One indication that this may very well be a transient small-hours sugar-high is that when I got the dismal readings on the 5th my stats were virtually identical to those I'm getting this morning: Signal strength is -79 dBm and the CINR is -12.
As always, I'm eager to be told something definitive, or referred to something definitive, about what that CINR reading means, what is a good CINR for Sprint LTE, what is a poor CINR for Sprint LTE, what the significance is of particular RSSI/RSRP signal strength readings for Sprint LTE, etc. etc. |

Perhaps the fastest speed I've gotten on my hotspot to date thus far with LTE. |

I'm generally having consistent results across multiple servers with Verizon these days using a UML290 w/ Wilson Panel Antenna (@8.5 miles NLOS) connected to a Peplink Balance 20.

I consistently see over 20, tower 8 miles away, Wilson directional on roof, through dense trees behind the house, and a few shelter belts along the way.

Just put in a new Cradlepoint router for my USB760 modem I'm paying for 1MB down from Millenicom, but very seldom do I get that kind of speed. Ping ranges from in the hundreds to this latest one of 995. The test site is about 50 miles from where I live and the tower is about 5miles away. What's the deal? Any advice would be appreciated.

and then about 25 minutes later I got this

Thanks.

sprint LTE in Tennessee Doing pretty well. Fluctuates sometimes, but anything is better than 3G!!!
32down, 11up. That's insane. That's faster than my cable modem! |

Joe: Groton, NY looks like it has significant LTE coverage. I know there are many tall trees (I used to leave in Ithaca), but I think your best solution would be to switch to the 4G LTE, 20 gig plan. External antennas can significantly help challenged signal areas, and many folks here would be willing to help recommend a setup, if needed. Even with a weak LTE signal, you should easily see 3-5 Mbps. |

Second this. 8 miles from tower and dense trees with no external antenna I was getting 7 meg down with it just sitting in the house, and signal worse than -100 dBm. Antenna setup to get the results I posted earlier I pieced together myself, all from Amazon. |

Re: sprint LTE in Tennessee compuguybna, that certainly can't be in Nashville! When I had Sprint before I left them a few months back, we were lucky to see .5mbps on 4g let! service here was/is awful!
had to switch back to verizon... |

| Maybe you were stuck on WIMAX? Do you have a Sprint LTE phone? Those speeds the day they were captured were in COLUMBIA, TN.
Lewisburg, Columbia, Shelbyville all have Sprint LTE. They got it before Metro Nashville.

Re: sprint LTE in Tennessee Lord, Sprint is awful in Nashville. At least downtown, didn't have much luck in Cool Springs either.
I had to leave them after 2 months service was so poor. I couldn't even make a call or send a text in downtown Nash... Or East Nash. Awful.
This was just 1mth ago. |

 | And yeah I was on an iPhone 5.
Reading the Sprint forums, I wasn't alone.
I would have liked nothing more thna to have good service since I was paying $53 to be on my sister's family plan... I had to go back to Verizon and pay more for less...and pay for an u/l plan since I gave mine up... |

Re: Post your 4G speeds (verizon or Sprint) This area isn't heavily populated, and I'm sure not that many people on Sprint.
most of the people here are on Verizon or AT&T.
Seems as we got upgrades months ahead of metro areas. |

Looking at all the number it seems odd to me Verizon/Sprint arnt capping the topend lower to help bring the lowend up. Of course it has a lot to do with signal, but not all. Even a HD netflix stream doesnt need anything like 15Mbps.
Seems like if they capped the topened to 5-8Mbps and doubled our usage cap I think a lot of people would be more happy. |
