D-710 Beeps When Scanning? Turn Off?

Anybody know if it's possible to have the D-710 not beep when it stops on an active carrier when scanning? I can't find any menu item to do this.

That beeping really makes scanning an annoyance. Makes no sense either - the carrier itself tells you the scanner "found" something.

If you buy the programming cable for the Kenwood D 710 and download the software to your computer you can do rig control via the computer.

The Beep off is in the sub menu.

I do not like RT Systems software.

Or you could READ THE OWNERS MANUAL.

Thanks, but I was referring to only the beep WHILE SCANNING, not disabling the beep altogether. It seems crazy to have it beep every time it finds an active channel - I imagine most people stop scanning after about a minute and never scan again.

What software is better? Will CHIRP work with this cable and radio?

Kenwood supplies their own program - free of charge.

I didn't check to see if the 6 PIN DIN is the same as the Yaesu.

There is a version of Chirp for D 710 - it is bare bones compared to the factory Kenwood program.
