quote: A massive dome of high pressure, sometimes referred to as a "heat dome," has set up shop over Alaska, bringing all-time record temperatures just a few weeks after parts of the state had a record cold start to spring. In some cases, towns in Alaska were warmer on Monday and Tuesday than most locations in the lower 48 states.
*edit* this is a week of take-out and salads. No way am I heating up the kitchen again.
I don't think it would make that much of a difference.
In an upstairs apt, you can usually leave all your windows and all but the main door open night time, and that will usually cool it down reasonably well.
This time of the year I'm glad I don't live in Phoenix, or even in Vancouver any more. The thing that *really* sucks in the SW is that their daytime low can be 10F or more higher than our daytime high...
It got down to 100ยบ in death valley last night, but you are right...it's not the heat, it's the humidity. With all the rain up until last week, the heat and the mugginess even after the sun goes down . make it really hard to sleep. still better than anywhere in the SW.
