Daily Speed Test Results For Windstream DSL

Daily post to document the service of my ISP.

Located in Long County, GA.

Will use documentation to start calling monthly to ask for a billing credit.

Have ignored the slow speeds for multiple years.

iowaboy,
What speeds are you paying for?
The reason I ask is that it looks like you might have a 1.5/384 profile. If that is the case then those speeds are acceptable for that package.

Entre Nous-
The site is not dedicated to customers with speed issues (though granted it may seem like that). A quick search of the site and you will be able to find many posts where AZinOH has assisted many customers with issues that are not speed related.

I'm just the occasional reminder that not everyone has issues with WS.

I am paying for a 3 Mbps down internet but they can only give me 1.5 Mbps. Lately the speeds are runing 194kbps down and 381 kbps up. Had 3 techs out and still not fixed and takes each 1-2 weeks between to get one here anyway. I had to accept the 1.5 Mbps and did as long as it stays at that speed but when the modem reboots 3-4 times a day and the bad speeds it does make me a unhappy camper. There are 3 other isps on tyhis town and Windstream is the only one who can provide service to me.

But I do have to say that before the last 4 weeks I have had a rock solid 1.5 Mbps down and 316 kbps upload. So I haven't been unhappy for a long time. Just lately.

How is 30-35% of what he pays for acceptable? I see farther down he says 3M package but I don't see how if he had the 1.5 how less than 60% or more is ok.

I had cable for a few years and the package had similar speeds Windstream has me signed up for. But it would go down for days at a time and would take 1-2 weeks to fix if we were lucky. I got tired of being without the internet so switched to a local phone company which also had same speed package and would always be there when ever I wanted to be on the computers. This was before I moved back home to Fairfield. So needless to say I don't have faith in the cable even if they could service my location. But till 4 weeks ago I did have a solid 1.5 Mbps. Not really happy with the speed but I could live with it since the speed let me work part time. So the wife and I could watch videos without having them stop and start all the time I also had satellite installed. Good thing as the wife has been taking classes which need a good pipe in order to complete and test for her new part time job from home. We just need the dsl so we can work. Being in the "sticks" sometimes one just has to accept what one can get. But I did try working through the system and ended up contacting Aaron. He did check on my issue and is getting something done. Thanks Aaron. I can not complain about the techs in support or the field techs as they usually do attempt to get things fixed.

FWIW: Most of the time I've been with Windstream (and Alltel before them) my speed is right in the range of what I pay for; however, on two occasions in the last 8 years I was stuck with dial-up speed while I waited for WS to fix the problem. The good news is that they eventually fixed the problems and on both occasions they gave me a reasonable billing credit. The bad news is that it took months to fix the problems, and the communication from phone CSR's during that time was appallingly bad. The only consistently reliable WS assistance was from Aaron, who helps us here in the WS forum. My only words of wisdom (?) for you are to start a thread here, outlining the specifics of your issues AND call in to WS phone tech support to open a ticket. Document your communications and your speed issues so that you can ask for a credit once the problems have been fixed and...if the issues aren't corrected in a reasonable time...check some of the threads on these boards here to get the name of WS VP's that you can contact to escalate the problem (and hopefully expedite the fix.)

I'm on a 12MB plan, and this is what my usual speeds look like in my part of GA:
