HBO bringing "American Gods" to the small screen

I had no idea this was coming...

The American Gods television show, last we heard, was being planned as a six-season story arc on HBO, featuring 10-12 episodes per season at an estimated cost of $40 million per season due to the relatively-large amount of CGI required (for comparison’s sake, each individual episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones may cost upwards of $6 million on average). Tom Hank’s Playtone Productions banner is reported to be backing the series, after having previously collaborated with HBO on such projects as The Pacific and the award-winning Sarah Palin movie Game Change.

More here: »screenrant.com/neil-gaim ··· -script/ including plenty of quotes from Gaiman.

American Gods is a Hugo and Nebula Award-winning[1] novel by Neil Gaiman. The novel is a blend of Americana, fantasy, and various strands of ancient and modern mythology, all centering on the mysterious and taciturn Shadow. It is Gaiman's fourth prose novel, preceded by Good Omens (a collaboration with Terry Pratchett), Neverwhere, and Stardust. Several of the themes touched upon in the book were previously glimpsed in The Sandman graphic novels.

And in that Wiki:

In June 2013, there was speculation that HBO were planning a six season television adaptation of the novel. Gaiman, however, debunked these rumors on his Twitter account by declaring, "Seeing news stories about AMERICAN GODS being "officially greenlit" at HBO. These are just people talking on the internet & not true at all."
