google voice and sipgate down

I did test my goole voice weekend.

Summary
outgoing thru GV not working at this time. I tried two different GV numbers.
incoming using sipgate DID, or forwarded by GV not working. tried two different sipgate numbers.

however ipkall DID or forwarded by GV still works as usual. an alternative for incoming calls.

My setup uses sipsorcery + google voice and sipgate.

My GV forwards to Sipgate and Voxox; both are on the same PAP2.
I too did my weekly GV test call. Voxox worked, while Sipgate didn't.

The Sipgate line rings, but, on answering, the line is dead. After reading
your post, I tried calling my Sipgate line from Verizon and T-Mobile, and
got the same behavior, i.e., the Sipgate line rings, but the line is dead.
The caller gets a recorded message:

"The person you are trying to reach is currently not available."

Summary:

My GV, Voxox, Verizon, and T-Mobile phones are all working; my
Sipgate line is definitely not working.

As much as we regret it - we can not keep our product "sipgate one" longer on the market, and there are 31 Set in July 2013 (What does this mean for me as a customer?) .

I did also experience problem with sipgate one DID on Sunday to Monday early morning. However, it appears that the problem has been fixed just now. My setup is using LiberaIlVoIP to register with sipgate then have LiberaIlVoIP using iNum to forward calls to VoxOx for simultaneously ringing my mobile phone. VoxOx is registered by PBXes. It appeared that my IP phone rang which connects to PBXes extension, but not my mobile phone if I called via Google Voice which has setup as PBXes->SIPsorcery->IPKall->VoxOx. I used my mobile phone to call my sipgate one DID, IP phone only rang once then stopped ringing. My mobile phone did not have incoming call waiting. Instead, it showed no network coverage! Anyway, like I mentioned earlier, I just tested sipgate one DID again, and it appears to be working perfectly now.

That is for German only, not U.S.A.

Thanks everyone.

I re-tested all lines this morning.
GV runs fine. No problem.
sipgate. sometime no voice after ringing. sometimes went through no problem.
At this time, I decided to use IPKall as alternative until the sipgate problem is completely gone.

As [hszeto] said that's for the German homebase.

I believe that they already shut down in Austria.

-----

But seriously folks, was anybody thinking that their [US] operation was active in any [meaningful] way? We've talked about this before.

Long ago they closed down the US office they had opened. Long ago they stopped issuing new US numbers EVEN to paying customers.

To me, whether or not a number might work one day and not the next is a small issue compared to the whole bratwurst being on autopilot.

Monday Monday, can't trust that day,
Monday Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way.
Oh Monday morning, you gave me no warning of what was to be
Oh Sipgate Monday, how could you leave me without S--I--P ?

Every other day, every other day,
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
Oh my phone is dying, all of the time.

The German article and including the comments were highly interesting, I do not have the time to translate it but it shows the kind of problems a small innovative company faces on German market and with German regulators.

A somewhat (emphasis on somewhat) coherent translation is provided by Google Translate and can be accessed here:

As you cogently pointed out, German federal regulation is a big part of the issue.

As you cogently pointed out, German federal regulation is a big part of the issue.

The German federal regulatory agency has never been on the forefront of progress, consumer protection or competitive regulation.Compared to them even FCC looks good. Probably the most extreme ruling from them came last year- unfortunately I do not have the exact wording-essentially stating that telecom providers who provide non metered calling can block access numbers of their competitors; as an example a customer has free calling to land lines and he uses it to call an access number of a provider offering cheaper international calling. I such a case, according this ruling, the telecom provider can block the access and this behavior is not considered anti competitive, because the customers " abused" or may have the intention to "abuse" the provider by using a non metered service to obtain service from a competitor.

I stand corrected. The phone rings, but when answered I get a Voip Status Code of 701.

This is a Gigaset error code (not a SIP standard) for the called party hung up.

Not sure if this is a Sipgate issue or a Gigaset issue. In the meantime, I have routed my GV DID to another provider.

The title of the URL says it all: Wir geben auf!    We give up!

Wie traurig!    How sad!

Meanwhile, incoming calls to both of my SipGate DIDs are working just fine on my laptop's ExpressTalk SoftPhone

A friend of mine uses Sipgate daily. He contacted me the other day about the issue to discuss. He also contacted Sipgate. Their reply:
=========================================
Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry.

Over the last few days we have experienced issues with call routing. Our Engineers
and SIP Technicians advise these issues should now be resolved.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused. We have added some call credit to the
account as goodwill and to allow for call testing.

If there is anything else we can help you with, do not hesitate to get in touch
with our support again. Thank you!

Best regards,

James

I'm not surprised.

This has gotten to be like FreeDigits from a few years back. Like one of these vampire things, they took [forever] to finally die. But finally they stayed dead. Silver kills vampires, maybe copper kills things like FreeDigits and similar outfits.
