Moving to Gatineau - Start or Ebox?I'm an avid online console gamer and I'm looking at a few options; so far I'm stuck between Start and ElectronicBox for 25/10 FTTN service.
Who would you recommend based on reliability and stability - I need something with low latency. - or should I go with cable?
I'm currently with Distributel and they're too slow with updating their new packages - their FTTN is still listed as 1Mbps upload, which is out of the question.
Thanks a bunch! |

Well then - just got an email from Start - most I could get at the place I'm looking at is 3mbps upload - time to rethink a switch to cable. |

TekSavvy & Start are both great companies with similar initiatives. Either or would be a good choice... Just felt like providing more choices |

Depends what you are looking for.
From what I hear, Start is great. Teksavvy is good as well and Marc is very approachable.
From personal experience, you can't go wrong with Ebox. Excellent customer service, very knowledgeable support and service that just plain works and while I'm not in Gatineau, in Montreal I get consistent, slightly above advertised speeds and below average wait times should you need to call in for something.
No matter who you chose you won't be sorry, but I highly recommend Ebox. |

Correct, no cable in Quebec yet I'm afraid. Thanks for thinking of us though. |

Depends on what you need. Cheapest deal out there is TSI cable with 75gb for 24,95$/month but if you want to download a lot, check out Acanac too. Both TSI and Acanac are good companies. We made a comparison between what's available out here in Vidéotron land, you might want to make your choice depending on that thread: » [Internet] Comparaison des IISP par câble au Québec |

awesome, thanks! ; while price is important - low latency and a higher upload speed is what I'm looking for. |

Im with ebox in gatineau. Nothing to complain about. Usually TSI price are somewhat higher especially in higher speed (see 60 mbps) in lower tier both are competitive. However TSI has unlimited upload all the time and offpeak download. Ebox is working on their offpeak but its not available right now. Ebpx offer discount if you refer people and i think the install is currently free. If you go with ebox let me know i will happily give you my referal id |

If you want higher upload speed, anything in Videotron territory from 15mbit to 60mbit come with 10mbit upload even if the third party ISP doesn't advertise it. I personally have Acanac 30mbit and I definitely enjoy my 10mbit upload speed! |

I'll vouch for Ebox, but Start also seems to be loved by it's customers |

Marc have you guys looked at offering vpn tunnel to get static ip on cable? Yep, we've been there for about a year now... We'll be renovating the bottom floor in the next few months as well in order to expand operations there. Nothing planned for VPN tunnel/statics on cable.. With the new speeds on DSL... We offer statics there.. There's not a huge demand or desire on my part to manage another MLPPP type thing. Not to say that we'll never do something like that but right now we have a full agenda already. |
