mcb join:2005-05-21 San Francisco, CA | Using Business Fusion for 2 line condo alarm system My condo pays for two phone lines from AT&T for fire and burglar alarms. This costs $107/mo. I'm wondering if we can reliably (nobody wants false alarms!) switch to Sonic Business Fusion while also using the DSL bandwidth.
Any thoughts? TIA. |

| The Sonic Fusion phone line is a real "plain old telephone system" line and should be compatible with any POTS equipment and accessories that you may have.
While I don't have any commercial alarm system attached to my bonded Fusion lines, I do have a fax machine on one of them and it is working fine. Fax is one of the things that voip systems (like cable company telephone service) often have problems with and therefore a good test for the quality of a phone line.
Since you plan to use the lines for both alarm systems and DSL Internet connection beware that alarm systems are known to degrade the DSL signal (if it is passed through the alarm system). For best results install POTS splitter to separate the DSL signal from the voice phone signal between the NID and the alarm system. For bonded Fusion you will need two such splitters and they should be ADSL2+ or VDSL2 rated. -- Got some spare cpu cycles ? Join Team Helix or Team Starfire! |

Any thoughts? TIA. You'll just want to assure that a proper alarm specific filter is deployed by the alarm company. See:
