Even if Sprint takes longer to 'catch up' as/if ATT/VZW continues to rollout more coverage, the industry as a whole probably wouldn't be pushed harder if it weren't for the presence of a stronger 3rd player. Softbank is adding another level of competition.

If Sprint manages to keep unlimited _and_ significantly expands coverage/capacity (the latter is clearly happening, the former will probably be necessary for years), ATT/VZW may have to do something to react, like bump up limits or invest even more into the network than they planned.

Competition is good. Consumers win.

I think VZ is doing just fine pushing T with LTE rollouts. A third player won't hurt, but I don't know how much it will help the current environment.

Lets see how Sprint actually executes first. Remember a few years ago when Sprint reiterated its commitment to "unlimited" to pull in customers? Great plan, poor execution.
