My tests are worse to the Start server than the Nexicom one lol. Usuually on the Nexicom one I always am over 20mb but seems peak time is slightly less atm.

Definitely not the first but one of the first.

Congrats on the new Speedtest server Rocca. I was wondering when start would have their own server seeing as how TSI has had it for a while.

Just ran the test. Ping and Upload has improved on this Speedtest server:

What i noticed is, hardly any speedboost is visible on start's speed test, compared to others, weird.

The large speedbosst has disappeared from just about all speedtests I've noticed. I'm getting pretty much identical speeds from start, nexicom, teksavvy, telus, and blink (Hamilton).

I'm still getting it in my non-agg Teksavvy connection - maybe only agg connections are affected?

Ive found that Brantford almost never gets speedboost anymore. At least in my area, and even at 4 in the morning.

and fwiw, i get 15 mbps to start, and 25 to nexicom on my 25/2.

Looking good east of the GTA for a 45/4 profile!

Speedboost is much less relevant with faster speeds these days, I posted a bit about it at:

»Re: Upcoming package changes - sneak preview

said by rocca:

Speedboost was probably much more useful back when the fastest service was 12Mbps, or for people on the 3Mbps plan at the time, ie nice to get a doubling boost for a few seconds to bring down a heavy graphic'd web site or more impressive for speed test results, but it's not much of an impact for sustained downloads since as you mentioned it drops off after a few seconds, and web pages (even with videos in them) already come down pretty quick on 25Mbps or the faster packages.

Get pretty good results from the new server :

Looks Rogers changed my node to 8x3 (I've got 4x3 on a SB6121) and made the upload speeds more exact, getting 1Mbps+ now instead of 0.90~0.99Mbps.

i'm on teksavvy but here are results

beanfield:

and start:

ping is very amazing that is the lowest ping i've ever gotten from a speed test result and i am in ottawa, and its not just a one time thing, i seem to get 14 ping every time i do a test there... good stuff start.

Don't know if a fluke or not but off Beanfield 5ms ping:

the Beanfield server might be located in Toronto at 151 Front while the Start one is likely located in London at their datacenter.

I believe Rogers stuff connects into Start at 151 while Bell stuff goes into London.

Speedtest.net locates it in Toronto, but that one beanfield test was a fluke. Tried some more this morning and they come in at 10ms as per usual.

Isn't Bell aggregated as well? Not that London would be a bad pass off point but I always assumed the IISPs took the pass offs somewhere in the GTA as well.
