Re: Speedtest.net

said by Donkey3k:

The large speedbosst has disappeared from just about all speedtests I've noticed. I'm getting pretty much identical speeds from start, nexicom, teksavvy, telus, and blink (Hamilton).

Ive found that Brantford almost never gets speedboost anymore. At least in my area, and even at 4 in the morning.

and fwiw, i get 15 mbps to start, and 25 to nexicom on my 25/2.

Speedboost is much less relevant with faster speeds these days, I posted a bit about it at:

Speedboost was probably much more useful back when the fastest service was 12Mbps, or for people on the 3Mbps plan at the time, ie nice to get a doubling boost for a few seconds to bring down a heavy graphic'd web site or more impressive for speed test results, but it's not much of an impact for sustained downloads since as you mentioned it drops off after a few seconds, and web pages (even with videos in them) already come down pretty quick on 25Mbps or the faster packages.
