Question about a Goodmand CPLT30-1B air flow/air directionI have tried to look it up but i am unable to find the info i want...
I wanted to know if the fan should be pushing the air downward in condensing unit and out trough the fins or suck the air in trough the fins and up... |

so it seem the guy that repaired the leak on the unit must have mixed something because right now the fan is pushing the air downward and out trough the fins... so that would explain why the AC is not cooling to well...
Thanks for the info... |

If it's a rescue motor (not OEM), chances are the rotation can be reversed. Unless, of course, he replaced the fan blade with one that blows down instead of up. However, I doubt he did that and just didn't reverse the rotation of the replacement motor. It's a relatively simple fix, if that's the case. |

Sorry, but somehow I got the impression that the motor had been replaced. If you're up to it, you can check the wiring of the motor yourself. If he took off the top of the unit to get to the refrigerant leak, chances are he mis-wired the motor when he reinstalled it. Turning the power to the unit off first, you can pull the electrical cover on the unit. The wiring diagram on the inside of the cover will show which wires go where. There are probably only 3 or 4 wires. They will be easily identifiable by color and/or markings. Then, you can compare the wiring with what is on the wiring diagram. If you need help, post photos of the motor wires and the wiring diagram. |

I don't think I've ever seen a squirrel cage fan on an outside condensing unit. |

Reversing the motor of a squirrel cage blower will not cause a reverse in air flow. I don't know how you got the impression we are talking about a squirrel cage. As far as a fan blade, yes, we all know they are rotation specific. But, even with the blade turning the wrong way, it will move some air rotating in the wrong direction. |

Since the trouble had nothing to do with the motor beside maybe needing to removed it to access the inside pipe i hope he only reconnected it backward. I see no reason for him to play with the fan itself. I hope nothing else was done or wrong with the unit and the repair sheet does not mention a thing about it...
For now since i am back at work and finish at 9pm it's a bit hard to check it more... |
