 | Need help with lagg spikes Hey, got some strange issue that probably cant be explained properly. For some reason this issue does only occur to my computer in the household. But when im at another household with a different router it works just fine. But still i cant figure out if it's the router since it works fine on all the other computers. Basicly what happens is: When i play any multiplayer game, my ping goes up to 1400 from 70 in just a second. Then after a couple seconds it will reset down to 70 again, and that will just keep happening.
My wireless card is : Atheros AR9485WB My router is: DLINK DIR 655
Things Ive tried already: Updating drivers, changing dns & disabling background scan.
Any idea on what is causing this? |

 | To start, don't make duplicate threads.
Then, take a step back and take a deep breath. Nothing here is happening "quick"
Now that is out of the way...
What type of Internet connection are you using?
How many computers are using the router?
Have you tried hardwiring into the router?
Have you tried changing channels on the router?
What size channel are you using?
How is your signal?
So, basically what this all sums up to is this: You haven't provided anywhere near enough information for anyone to help you. |

 | My signal is a steady 4 out of 5.. Idk how to put it in another way xD |

Not sure wich channel, not that high tech when it comes to router configurations etc.
3 people tops.
Regarding the doublepost.. one of them was made from a guest acc, wich wouldnt show up after a couple hours.
Hope the info provided is of any help. |

Speedtest != latency.
If you're worried about ping spikes, either set up an extended ping on your PC, or get an application that charts your ping times -- IIRC, smokeping is a relatively easy one to setup for home use.
Next question is WHERE the spikes are coming from. Basically ANYTHING between your computer to your router to your ISP all the way through to your game server is suspect.
I've no idea what's causing this, but I'd start with the above, and start backtracking from your computer to the game server; a traceroute would also help in this matter.
