Forum scheduled to be closed

Given the finalizing of the Sprint deal: »Sprint Completes Their Acquisition of Clearwire , this forum will be shut down in the not-too-distant future. Thanks to everyone for their participation over the years.

why not please leave it up until sprint announces they are shutting the clearwire network down. That has not happened yet and we still need a place to communicate.

The Clear WiMAX service is NOT being shutdown. Clearly you are in error shutting down this forum.

We'll see how it goes. It isn't going to happen immediately.

Clearwire is now Sprint owned, BUT Clear WiMax will be operating for sometime. When Sprint pulls the plug on the Clear network then look at closing down this forum.

I find this forum valuable regardless of who owns Clear.
Wimax is still being marketed.

Agreed, Please keep this forum open, while clear name may soon be gone, the 2.5Ghz BRS network is not going anywhere. So no need to panic. This service either as wimax or LTE-Advanced 2 will be here for years to come on the BRS spectrum.

What typically happens in cases like this (where one provider grabs another) is that additional radio buttons get added in the forum, to make it easy to differentiate posts. However, as I said, this is just an early warning that this forum is on the list.

Maybe the name and technolgy will change but I bet Son keeps the Clearwire concept alive. Of course say TDD lte will replace wimax and the name may or may not change but the concept will remain. If anything it will get better.

I just created this account in order to voice my support for this forum's continued existence.

I've only been a Clear user for about a month, but I did a lot of research before choosing it, and in my studies I found only one forum of any consequence anywhere on the Internet that is dedicated to Clear/Clearwire, and this is it. I hope it sticks around. I hope Clear sticks around.

Frankly, I think it would be strange for Sprint/Softbank to give up on the Clear name. They bought the company, they bought the spectrum, but, by extension, they also bought the name, right? It's a good name, and even if there have been some growing pains, it's a name that conveys the idea of good reception. It's eminently marketable.

You could say that about NexTel.

If clear goes under guess the computers will just be retired. I'll just move all activity over to the smartphone and double my data and still save money. Hope it holds out till at least the end of 2014 though.

The plan (at the moment) is for Clearwire to continue operating it's retail arm under the Clear name, using the existing WiMAX infrastructure (with their LTE upgrade coming next year). The decision to merge Sprint and Clearwire into one company rests solely in the hands of SoftBank. If SoftBank changes the names or merges the two companies, the forums should reflect those changes. Tmpchaos, I believe, is merely being proactive and I, for one, appreciate the heads-up.

Clear have 1.4 million users that they sell direct service to. They have a total of 11 million users that reply upon their WiMAX network for Internet service. Sprint has done some pretty stupid moves in the past but I kinda think they would be totally insane to shut down a network that carries 11 million users.

"CLEAR" will be maintained as a SEPARATE entity, and plans will remain "as is" for "CLEAR" customers.

>>> THERE IS NO NEED TO CLOSE THIS FORUM, AS IT IS UNIQUE TO "CLEAR" CUSTOMERS, AND THE UNIQUE PROBLEMS THEY WILL CONTINUE TO FACE AT 2.5 GHz

***** I would strongly suggest you check with "CLEAR" and confirm any assumption that Sprint will not keep this service as a separate entity, as I did, before closing this forum. *****
