+1 Jim. Any Estimate on the light up? |

 | I have it in LTE and CDMA Only. I can see by the bars there is no signal. |

Jim they could be waiting on fiber back haul to be installed to some sites. Sometimes the cable outfits are a little slow providing service to the sites. I have read that NV sites will have 100 Meg fiber installed if possible. |

| quite true. On the very same tower Verizon is using microwave for the back haul (obvious MW antenna). I don't have a clue what Sprint will use. If there was fiber I would not see that mw antenna. -- ... need help? »evdo-tips.com/ |

said by decifal:But what about the speeds when the LTE is turned on? Are they still holding up well? Sprint turned ours on in august and its got me chomping at the bit Just because LTE is turned on doesn't mean that you will get in spec LTE service. That's been my situation since late Spring (Manhattan, zip 10022). LTE has been on that entire time, but I'm getting absolutely awful download speeds, well below minimum spec (which is 6 megs a second):

And, big surprise, I have absolutely no idea when it's going to be for real here. My provider was guessing end of summer, but it looks like that isn't happening. One Sprint technician on a Sprint community forum guessed the beginning of November, but I'll believe it when I see it.
And while I'm waiting for the "upgrade" to be finished, my WiMax continues to be very unreliable and my 3G continues to also be slow, way below minimum spec also. Ah, the joys of the upgrade. |

| I have no sympathy for you criggs. You live in the most vibrate city in the world and complain about internet connections. Perhaps it is your economic position. NYC has an incredible amount of net connections ....maybe even that neighbor next to you. Get out of your cave -- ... need help? »evdo-tips.com/ |

I have a laptop and I travel, so I can't really afford two providers, one for home and one for mobile use. So I basically have to go with whatever and whoever is offering the best mobile package. In non-upgrade times, I've been extraordinarily happy with WiMax, and I'm sure the day will come when I'll be happily surfing on Sprint's LTE. My current technical difficulties I view as merely a passing phase. But it certainly is irksome while it lasts. |

When the towers are upgraded in your area did sprint go ahead and colored the maps in your area as having it? I'm just wondering at which stage they do that. |

said by decifal:When the towers are upgraded in your area did sprint go ahead and colored the maps in your area as having it? I'm just wondering at which stage they do that. In my case, the Sprint coverage map at my address in zip 10022, Manhattan, does indeed show LTE there, and has for about a month. They color it pale orange, Fair, rather than bright orange, Best. In spite of that fact, at »shop2.sprint.com/en/shop/why_spr···ist.html there is an updated list of cities. If one clicks the plus sign on New York one sees that Manhattan is still NOT listed. So go figure.
After almost an hour on the phone with Sprint, I was finally given a set of minimum specs for Fair LTE: the minimum download is 4 megs a second and the minimum upload is 1 meg per second. In my case, the upload has been comfortably in sync even for Best (where the minimum is 2 megs per second), averaging around 4 megs a second, while my download doesn't even make the cut for Fair specs, as follows:

Patiently waiting They upgraded 66 towers in my area. At first this was a great improvement....thought the LTE signal did not reach my house reliably(know this from the "Upgrade" when I got switched to a U770 by Millenicom)..
anyway, recently, 3Gwise, the tower(s) that I can access, are jammed again. I was getting mostly 1.0+ to 1.9 downloads. Now, at "peak times" I'm back to getting .08...unuseable. I can't watch a video feed set at 144p without it stalling.
The Great Roll Out lasted for about 6 months, and now it seems that the towers are Oversold and Overloaded again. But that was the plan, wasn't it. Make it look like a good deal...sell those 2Year...Guarenteed LIFETIME UNLIMITED DATA/VOICE/TEXT contracts....talking about Sprint here....then who cares if the sheeple can't use what we just sold them. At least the NSA can track them. |
