Customer care

Hughesnet customer sites down? No manual came with my new install. How is a new user going to learn their system if customer care sites don't load?

Upload and download speeds are great and other sites load up without problems

That is where it is at however.
What kind of error is it giving you ?
I just opened it but I'm on a 7000

Have you tried turning off Turbopage / Web acceleration in SCC ?

I dont know how to do that? I did switch over to my dsl modem and connected to those sites and chatted with hughesnet tech support. They said first 5 days new user they reset useage meter. They dont have an answer why I can not connect to customer care or chat while using hughesnet modem

I have the ht1100 modem the newest gen4 system. Not sure you can turn that stuff off in new modem? I remember from my starband days turning off web accelerator. they still dont have a good one?

Figured out how to turn web accelerator off. Jeez just like old days with starband.... this system flying with accelerator turned off.... go figure

Its great you got it figured out.
As far as constant issues, well its Hughesnet.
Between India based support, latency, data caps you just may want to hang onto that DSL for a bit yet.
Many report great service for about 31 days then things start to happen.
Watch your billing very carefully, they make "errors", always in their favor.
Were you able to download the manual ?

Yes downloaded manual thanks. Problem is compared to my super slow over congested dsl (3 years and no fix planned) even faped sat probably will be faster. My download speed avg on dsl is point5 and I pay for 6 meg speed. right now this sat is blowing away my dsl speeds. I would prefer no 24 month contract but thats not going to be an option

Since upgrading to GEN4 yesterday, I can't get to the customer care login. Just sits at »my.hughesnet.com/ forever.
Makes no difference if I turn web acceleration off.

Try a different browser.
It did work here tho on a 7000, IE9

Told Ya Gen$4 was jinxed

Does your useage meter keep resetting too? Had gen4 for 9 days and at midnight it resets back to 10 gigs

All is well now after a support email sent to Hughes and a download/reinstall of the meter. I have no outstanding issues.

I'll let you know if I see any meter reset issues in the next couple weeks.

Has been posted several times by Sara & Suz that new customers will receive usage resets for several days to allow for OS updates.
So keep an eye on that meter to avoid any surprises.
