[Hardware] New Google Phone to be Announced in 4 days?I heard some rumors that a new Google phone will be announced in 4 days and my friend says I should wait before heading out to my local phone shop to buy a phone. And he told me it might be better than the S4 or the HTC-ONE.
Is this the MotoX? Or something way more different?
Thanks |

I love my N4 more and more. I'll wait for the next one and see if it's better. |

I don't think that phone is the one. Newer leaks give it wrap around Gorilla Glass and a aluminium internal frame with the kevlar back. » www.engadget.com/2013/07 ··· renders/ |

A smaller screen than the S3 and the S4. I heard rumors that this phone will be the hot one. More so than the S4. Not suprised by this rumor, because the S4 is not at all a rugged phone, this one is. |

Dealing with failing radios (never were that great to start with) and a recently cracked screen on my Gnex I am anxiously awaiting the details (Aug 1) of the Moto-X. Specs are being widely reported. A voice interface that is always on, gesture oriented and tons of sensors that detect when the phone is in your pocket and when you take it out, when you are driving 60mph and when you are not, etc. A new stronger form of glass from Corning called Magic-glass that might wrap around the edge of the phone.... Probably a replaceable and up-gradable battery. Built in the USA with some degree of customization available.
The key for me on this phone is whether you can just buy it, contract free at a reasonable price. The new droids that VZ just announced cost as much as $300 + $35 upgrade fee on-contract. If they price the Moto-X like the last Nexus, it is going to be very competitive with a contract phone in price. I don't mind paying a little more to be free of a contract and to maintain my unlimited data plan. The latter isn't that important except on principle because I rarely use that much data. I don't mind buying a phone with less than breathtaking specs to be off contract too. On contract, the phone could be close to free. No one knows the pricing details and we will have to wait 2 more days to find that out. |

In light of the whole NSA fiasco, I keep reading the "always on voice recognition" thing as a huge minus not a plus. But that's just me... |
|

I really dont think that this one would be considered or going to be the hottest of all phones around. The S3, S4, and the HTC ONE will dominate the Smartphone industry for a while.
Motorola is great for making radio gear equipment and repeaters. But not really good at making Smartphones. |

But didn't google buy moto? |

The screen looks small and who would downgrade to a smaller screen? |

Motorola is great for making radio gear equipment and repeaters. But not really good at making Smartphones. That expertise in radio gear allows them to use that technology to make some of the best cell radios around. The Moto X will be just about the only phone out there with two LTE antennas. I just spent 2 weeks in Maine and NH and could barely make a call using my Samsung. Forget using it for data. I never saw a 4G signal the whole time unless I was using my antiquated Moto Xoom. My wife never had a problem with her moto Droid X (3g and voice). I agree they may not be the best, but in my experience, cell phone reception is where Motorola has always shined. You are also forgetting the fact that the Moto-X is the first Google inspired phone from their not so newly acquired company. It is basically a Nexus with limited crapware and the promise of frequent updates. For a limited audience, this has always been a plus. I'm not sure how successful the Moto X will be, but Google is planning on spending a ton marketing it. |

After it detects that phrase then it gets sent to google. |

And then, to the NSA for voice match and storage. |

I still have my Motorola DEFY plus phone. How will the Moto X compare to that phone?
The DEFY is more rugged and built to last compared to the S4 which is cheap plastic.... |

Very disappointed by Goggle on this one. Back is there to stay, but most disapointing is the price. All we know is the contract price is $200/16GB or $250/32GB. Rumors had the phone selling for around $300 off-contract. The rumors were wrong. Nothing all that special about this phone except the possibility of buying an unlocked version some time in the future. The only saving grace which might still propel me to consider it is the fact that Motorola builds and backs them from US shores. I had a very pleasant service experience with my Xoom. |

Yep, as I expected, I am extremely disappointed with this phone as well. I'm board with my DNA and looking for something new, not from Samsung, and I was hoping the rumors would turn out to be incorrect. 4.7" screen @ 720p is no go for me. And sorry, the option to have this phone made out of bamboo doesnt make up for the mediocrity of this phone. I cant believe all the carriers will pick up this thing eventually, and the only carrier that got the Sony Xperia Z in the US was T-Mobile. |

While I'm a little disappointed also it doesn't benchmark too bad against the other new phones on the market. » arstechnica.com/gadgets/ ··· ble-cpu/ |

Forget it....I can see that this phone will not sell as well as the S4 or the HTC ONE.
The most positive I like about it, is that its assembled in the USA and might have a tougher material than the S4. Thats about it.
One HUGE goofy feature of this, is that in order to activate the camera, one has to wiggle your wrist. Thats very very stupid goofy feature that I had ever seen before. |

Noticed they didn't use a octa-core S4.... I wonder why |

Missed the price point completely. If it isn't $350 on google play its a shame. |
|
|
Will not get this as it does not have an external SD slot nor a removable cover for battery changing. Still cannot see any reason that this will outbeat the S4 or the HTC ONE as far as sales go. And who on earth would "downgrade" to a smaller screen or to a 720p resolution display?? Ok, I can see why, and the answer is to conserve battery power.
But still. Its an Ok phone to have, but still not like an S4.
Sorry guys, thats my 2 cents on this one. |

Which is why it needs to be $350 vs $650 for gs4 and $600 for one |

Well in terms of framerate/game play, a 720p screen with Adreno 320 is going to spank a 1080p with Adreno 220, despite the missing 2 cores and slower clocked CPU. It's not surprising.
Can't really look at it in terms of "1080 > 720", and the screen will have a better PPI compared to the Droid devices.
All that said, if Moto had hustled to get this out this time last year or even late 2012, it would have done much, much better IMHO. |

I heard that the Moto X is built in America. That alone has me interested in dumping my Iphone 4. I hope it's a decent phone, and that "Made in America" will get people to buy it. But I doubt it. |

It's not only he NSA. But also any apps you install, any socail media sites you update while on the road, over your phone. As well as the phone make, the OS on the phone, and any place that you visit to use their "free" wifi. |
