[Internet] Dropped my Frontier Phone line, now my internet is SO

Hello, We have had frontier internet/phone for many years. we live in a rural area and don't have any other options for service. At our best speeds we hit about 1mbs, which is slow but with no other option we have gotten used to it. About a week ago we decided to drop the phone line to save a little money, unfortunately after doing this our internet is know at a crawl. It is very odd because the ping seems to not really go up much but the lag spike during online game have rendered them useless. YouTube and online gaming were the only real uses for our internet but now we can not do either. I called out frontier and they have replaced our modem and many of the old line but the problem seems to continue. Worst yet, they don't see the problem because the ping seems fine. I'm not really "tech savvy" so it is very hard to describe the problem.

I ran a trace to google.com, not sure if this gives any useful info.

The new line they installed is that inside your house or outside? Do a ping to "ping -n 50 74.40.1.42" and see if you are having packet loss. Although you no longer have telephone service you still require the phone line coming to your need. But you only need the telephone from your local access (NID) to your modem.
