Webserver behind ultraTV router/gateway?
i trolled through threads here where others have commented on above, but yet there doesnt seem to be a concise answer. i have windows server 2008 (HS) behind the ultraTV (GW) running apache webserver. Is it possible to get through to the server/webserver?
Note: before upgrading to UltraTV, i had the older router and had this working flawlessly for more than 3+ years. i have small site for family only so there is very little traffic.
i have tried the obvious, up to and including;
- static IP address on my HS
- put HS in DMZ @ GW
- added my HS IP address to the GW Virtual Server setup
- added port trigger to same (HS) on the GW setup
- disable following on Firewall Tab of GW
--- block pings
--- block frag IP packets
- and enabled following on Firewall Tab
--- (all 3 pass through's)
what i know...
- default GW admin page is served on port 8082 (so shouldnt be problem)
- my HS as well as 4 other PC (on Win7) have no issue getting on the internet via a switch
- i have 3 arris satelite boxes to my TV's (no issues)
- the GW DHCP is serving up a range of IP address for my other devices
- The HS static IP is OUTSIDE the DHCP range
- GW NAT is "RoutedWithNat"
I try to ping my IP Address in hopes of getting some response but no joy.
Can anyone help? thx
when you set a static IP on your server PC, did you also set the DNS to match what's in the UltraTV settings?
When I set up my static IP's for my network, they wouldn't work without also adding in the DNS to match what the box said.
yes, DNS on the server (HS) is set exactly same as what is on the router (GW). without that being same, i believe i had issues with connecting to the internet. but the server (HS) does have internet connection, np.

Maybe I'm missing something here..
You said your server has internet connectivity...
but you can't ping it?
sorry, i was trying to ping from another PC behind the GW. I just tried now to ping my WOW IP Address from work and it does resolve. however no access to the website...
Also i checked external sites for port80 open/closed, and getting Port 80 is indeed closed. so i am at loss as to what next step is. Does this mean the GW is in fact blocking port 80 (or at ISP level)??? any one have success on port 80 plz?
Ok, so my mistake was after i had configured the GW, i forgot to allow inboud requests into HS (firewalled). After fixing that site came up. Following is how i left GW setup
-- Reloaded Factory Default Settings (not sure if this made diff or not)
-- Added HS to Virtual Servers
-- Reboot the GW - thats all config needed
-- Set HS to get static IP (mine is outside the range of the GW DHCP addresses)
-- set Mask and Gateway IP to match GW LAN Settings (e.g. by default 255.255.255.0 & 192.168.0.1)
-- add rule in HS firewall to allow INBOUND request on Port 80 (this where i failed, i had moved the app to new server and forgot this step)
also used »www.canyouseeme.org/ to check status of port
hope this helps someone else...
