Re: [Internet] IPv6 just appeared on my connection

Still no native IPv6 here. Had pfSense WAN dhcp set to Track Interface, but also tried just DHCP6 and SLAAC without success. Continuing to use HE tunnel for now.

I read in another post that just means you are locally talking to the modem over IPv4, like when you go to the status page etc., and that has nothing to do with what is going over the WAN side. Mine (SB6141) also shows that IPv4 only message and I am getting a IPv6 connection.

Do you have a working IPv6 or just rest of us?

No IPv6 here on TWC in Westerville unfortunately. Still using my HE tunnel... works pretty well.

I am in Columbus, My router has received a /128 address and shows me a /64 I have been delegated. I can ping my /128 from a computer I added to the /64 but I cannot get out yet.

So I was just down the street at a client's house. They have TWC res service connected to a linksys E1200 router. IPv6 enabled and working fine. getting a 2602:blah address, and test-ipv6.com works 10/10.

So now I know IPv6 is enabled in this area. Either I am not configuring pfSense correctly or TWC hasn't pushed out IPv6 to dynamic IP Biz Class customers yet.

pfSense WAN should be set to "DHCP6", then underneath that setting select /56 as a "DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation size", and check box for "Send IPv6 prefix hint."

LAN interface gets set to Track Interface. Halt pfSense, reboot your modem, and then fire up pfSense. You should be good after that.

Thanks for the detailed instructions. I backed up my config, removed all of the settings for the HE.net tunnel, and applied the changes you mentioned above. Powered off both. booted them up and still no IPv6. Oh well.

Sorry to hear that Hawk82. If you're up for it, try it again but this time use a /64. I'm in NYC and it works with my pfSense 2.1 x64

It is more than likely as Comcast and others have done that business customers will come a bit later after they've done more testing in a production environment with the residential customer base.

North Raleigh, along Lead Mine is where it is active... On the residential Extreme package with a DOCSIS3 modem (old SB6121).

Also getting a prefix delegation as of a couple of hours ago too, but inside of the network is still configured for my HE.net allocation...

Not for me. In DHCP mode my Netgear router gets a prefix allocation from TWC without an issue except there seems to be no default route. Meaning I can't route out over IPv6 at all. Setting the router to Auto Detect mode gives me a 6to4 address, which at least allows IPv6 to work, but definitely not ideal.

Dunno. I can't seem to show that information in the router's setup page for IPv6 anyway.

In columbus I have IPv6 fully working now. Recieved a /64. It would be nice if you could request a /48 like in Hurricane Electric.

Plugged my laptop directly into the cable modem and it gave me a /128. Fortunately I was able to enable telnet on my Netgear and force add the same default route that my laptop got, so IPv6 is working again for now. Would be nice if I didn't have to do that though.

That's how it is supposed to work, its called Native over External (WAN). Your main external gets an ipv6 /128. It also recieves a /64. You use the /64 on your internal network and your router routes that over the /128 you have.

Good to know. Still need to figure out why that default route isn't appearing on its own though :/
