2 edits | [BC] Victoria (View Royal) problems Has anyone else had their modem going off line for a few minutes like it's resetting? I've caught this a few times over the last week while I've been home and the modem lights seem to indicate the modem is resetting. Also I've noted that sometimes my SEND light is blue and sometimes it's green (Moto SB6120, blue indicative of bonded channels and green, single channel upload).
It just happened again this AM while I was at work and I can remote in to the router and see the WAN connection dropped for 10 minutes.
At this point I'm just curious what others have noted and if this is just me or widespread (perhaps indicating DNU work) before I call in and get asked to remove my router, reboot the modem,etc... |

There's a decent chance you have borderline return levels. Dropping on and off is a symptom of that, and I have seen D3 modems with borderline upstream levels only come up with 1 channel when they should be bonding.
If you call them and just say you can see from the lights on your modem that it is constantly dropping off line, they will probably look at the levels right away without making you go through all the other BS. |

I had a CSR check the modem yesterday and all looked fine. I'm 99% sure my router isn't the issue but I'm going to put my backup router into service later in the week and if it happens again I'll have to see if I can get the modem replaced. |

Well the issue seems resolved. I don't know if it was the final reset I tried (a 30 min power down because I forgot I'd unplugged the modem ) or what but the modem has been up solidly for 5 days. No disconnects noted in my router logs. |

Shaw Internet isn't working at my house. I'm assuming this is a problem with Shaw as I have an almost new imac and modem and haven't experienced these problems before. |

No problems here, but on an unrelated note. When I moved to Victoria, I brought my Motorola SB6120 with me that I owned from a previous provider, when I signed up for Shaw, I asked if I could just give them my SB6120's mac address, and they said no, I have to use one of their modems.
Did they lie to me, and make me pay for one of their modem/router combos? I had to get them to put the modem/router in bridged mode to get it to work properly(not cause disconnects when playing games etc). |

The Cisco (if that is what you got), is a better modem than the SB6120 as well. -- Yes, I am not employed and looking for IT work. Have passport, will travel. |
