"All an attacker has to do is go to his favorite Seattle-based coffee joint, buy a venti latte and a low-fat pumpkin ginger muffin, and get the establishment's Wi-Fi password. Then, equipped with access to the Wi-Fi network, all that attacker would have to do is use one of the exploits that ISE has uncovered. The router would be compromised, including all the Web traffic flowing through it."

Any time you access any "Free" WiFi, you are at risk. Oh well; nothing new except additional exploits.

shouldn't a 63 character ascII random generated password mitigate this in a home router?

At least one of the attacks they mentioned was web-based. Your complex Wi-Fi password isn't going to help you there.

Re: Wi-Fi routers: More security risks than ever

The only valid concern here is man in the middle attacks as anything USING YOUR OWN PC, and an https protected site should be fine. Concur VPN is even better. However if you log into their created fake website (imitating your bank for example) then you may be screwed. Otherwise I don't see the risk, so please enlighten me??
