NRTC DNS Servers

NRTC provided DNS servers in 2005 when Wildblue came online. NRTC users (Coops/REAs) were suppose to use these servers, but considering how far away they were from users' gateways, it was a joke to use, from a technical viewpoint....i.e., from a latency viewpoint.

Not using them and using Wildblue's DNS servers was a better option.

With Exede users, only Exede's DNS servers will be used, last I knew on this topic for most all users.

NRTC's user login site still shows these DNS servers, which for Exede users, they serve no purpose.

I guess NRTC wanted a "selling point" to their members (Coops/REAs), but technical speaking, they served no purpose since a longer latency existed when used.

In early days, NRTC use to listen in here, but it appears they are asleep at the Exede wheel. Exede's system "hijacks" DNS requests, and users who manually insert other DNS servers IP address are wasting their time.

Unless you use Hotspot shield or Ultrasurf.
