[Midwest] Neighbors have U-Verse & DSL - AT&T Says "No DSL
I'm building a new house in Chelsea, Michigan (48118). Of course, I need to set up Internet service. Comcast will hook me up ... if I write them a check for ~$9000.00, so I called AT&T. After talking to several other AT&T sales folks, I spent two hours on the phone with a very nice guy, Benjamin, in Arizona. He plugged all my info into what sounded like many AT&T different systems, and even ran a credit check on me. He was bound and determined to get me DSL service.
At the end of nearly two hours of work, I heard him whisper, "Uh-oh". I hated to ask, but did, and he said, "A flag popped up. No DSL for you!" Well, that's what he said, in so many words. While I was on the line with Benjamin, I had looked up AT&T service availability for the neighboring addresses to my east, north, and west. AT&T's website showed U-Verse and / or high speed DSL either available or actually installed for all three neighboring addresses (but the website showed only telephone services available for my address), so I had high hopes Benjamin was going to come through for me, but in the end, no joy. I'm not ready to give up and go to satellite service ... yet.
Sorry for the long back story. Here's where I'm hoping to get some advice. If all the neighboring addresses (~1000 foot radius from me) have AT&T U-Verse and / or high speed DSL available, it seems logical that it would be possible for AT&T to hook up my new home, at least with DSL. My address is across the street from the Chelsea city limits, and I found out on DSL Reports that there is a working CO in town, about 1.5 miles from my location.
What should my next steps with AT&T look like? I would love it if an AT&T engineer, technician, or contractor would actually come out and physically survey my new address, to determine what it would take to establish DSL service for me. I think I've mostly talked with sales folks. Is there a way to reach folks who would be in a better position to investigate, and to install services for me?
Thanks in advance for any advice anyone may offer!

Edit: Sorry, I meant to reply to the thread in the AT&T Direct forum.
(This is a general reply / update to this discussion thread.)
It's been a bit over a week since my address verification case G86029156 was started. I've sent an e-mail to the AT&T sales person in Birmingham who started this cased for me, politely asking if any status update was available.
With the case number, is possible for any of you folks to peek at it, too? Our home is nearing completion, and I'm getting a little anxious about where my next Internet connection is going to come from!
