I can get it to run without the camera connected, but as soon as I connect a camera it quits. Also if I plug the camera in, it tries to start the utility, but it quits right away.
I like the way the utility downloads my files into dated folders and want to continue doing this without having to do in manually.
Anyone who has suggestions I would appreciate them, I have searched everything I can find with google and so far no success.
If anyone has a suggestion of another utility I could use to do the same thing I would appreciated that tool
My current file structure is (Shooting year, Shooting month, Shooting date) so it would have a folder 2013 with sub folders 1, 2, 3, 4, etc and those having subfolders of 2013-1-02, etc. -- Best of luck

Yes, I have tried all the reasonable compatibility settings all the way back to XP/SP3 and get the same result. -- Best of luck

Why don't you contact Canon and ask if this may be an issue with the software/equipment and whether or not they have a patch to make things work under Win8?

Which camera are you currently using. I have loaded the EOS utility for a 600D and a 5d mk3 on my laptop using Windows 8 with no dramas. I can use live shoot and remote shoot with both camera Bodies. The only thing that wont work unless you go and spend $800 bucks is the Wireless file transfer as you need the sender unit for the camera.
There are older versions i.e 30D and rebel XTI that are not supported for windows 8, also the problem seems to be pretty widespread for platforms using Windows 8 x64bit.
A quick fix would be to go into your camera settings and set to record on memory card in the name format you want. Then when you connect camera and turn on if EOS utility starts close it down and access files via My Computer and transfer to your specified download folder.
There is an ongoing discussion here »forums.usa.canon.com/t5/Software···9/page/5 which has some responses from Canon Tech support.
Good Luck -- If you cant fix it, then find something you can. If you cant find something then break something. |
