I have just viewed my TWC bill with the August 9 price increase in effect. My total increase, which is all for internet, is $5.01 monthly. Last billing was for standard internet at $47.99 with an additional 9.99 for Turbo. Current billing is for standard internet at $52.99 with an additional $10.00 for Turbo. Our apartment complex provides basic cable so our other fees are for DVR service, Digital Programming, and Equipment Rental Fees. I dropped Digital Phone almost a year ago and now use a VoIP provider. Total internet increase amounts to about 10.5% over last month's charges. I own my modem, so increased rental fees for that equipment do not apply.
The "back to school" price for the Standard tier is looking attractive right now though... can't beat $34.99 a month. It's like going back to 2003/4 when AT&T brought the 6Mbps DSL price down to $14.99/month.
Just for an update, recently talked to TWC just to make sure that they are giving me the promotional price, they did, for $36.99 a month (+ $5.99 modem). A bit more than the current promotion that they have on TWC's website of $34.99, but suppose I am fine with it. Maybe I am going to buy my own modem just to save a bit more...
TWC is the only game in town so they have no incentive to offer any promos... and they don't.
The only other option I have is 768/128k DSL from Fairpoint for $35, but I don't think that even qualifies as "broadband" today. That was the same service I had 13 years ago.
Assuming you still live in Lewiston, you might be able to get FTTP service from Oxford Networks (not sure on the speeds) or GWI (depending on what part of Lewiston you live in, speeds could be up to 20Mbit/1Mbit based on the quality of copper and distance from the CO).

Oxford actually was pretty enticing... but when I called them last summer I was told they are no longer accepting new customers :/ They stopped offering TV services 3 or 4 years ago. Now it seems they want out of the residential market completely. They have fiber on the pole outside my house, but they aren't interested in letting me use it.
I don't see much of a value in that Fios package since it has no premium movie or sports channels or phone service for that matter. I'd rather pay my $277/month for every TV channel, digital phone and 50Mb broadband from Time Warner.
Standard Internet, which I understand to be 10M/1M with possibly faster burst downstream speeds, not sure to how much, for the 16-Jul bill was $47.99 but with a $3 credit for customer owned modem. The 16-Aug bill was $52.99 - $3. I just received a notice that this -$3 will be going away, with no mention of whether leased modems will get their own line item after 30-Sep or whether my rate will be $49.99 or continue to be $52.99. This is for Cheektowaga, NY (a suburb of Buffalo). -- English is a difficult enough language to interpret correctly when its rules are followed, let alone when a writer chooses not to follow those rules.

I actually get Showtime and HBO for free and I watch showtime very rarely.. no need for digital phone have cell phones from Verizon Wireless for that.
Channels I do watch are truTV,history and few more and sometimes soccer games on NBCsportsnetworks or sometimes ESPN. And still get much faster internet speed 84/38mbps in real life. OH and yes it does have sports channels lol. Select HD does not.
I really want FiOS coverage over here as well... more competition is always welcome.
To those guys that are complaining about their TV service, are you going to pay more than $100+ just for TV? Like I mean, are you going to watch every single channel 24/7? I am sure everyone have to work out there, and you probably watch TV for like a few hours a day, then you use the internet. I don't think it's worth it to pay that much for TV. I have DISH and DirectTV years ago, got tired of paying $40 per month and canceled them, and I am still fine from free antenna TV.
$29.99,standard for 12 months. I was with Earthlink paying $44.95 for turbo back then.(15/2) When I noticed TW bumped standard speed to 15 and noticed some promo rate soon after. I switched. Yes, I bought my own modem.
