Re: [DSL] Frontier How does these stats look?If you can plug the telephone in at the NID and you still hear that noise then the problem is on Frontiers side. If it is clean at the NID then the problem is the wiring in your house. But before you do that turn your modem off and see if you still hear that noise. |
don't hear it when modem off? NID is clear also? |

Install the filter in the jack that you are using for the telephone. Then connect the telephone to it. If it has dual jacks make sure it is in the one marked telephone. If you currently have a filter on the telephone then you need to replace it. |
well i replaced it with another filter same noise? so what going on here i found 2 jacks like new same as the wires? 2 jacks are dead but i could of swore that one jacked worked yesterday when i plugged the modem into and tried it their? |

Hey hank, i found something really weird. i was messing around and put the regular wiring that they had on the house a while back and them 2 jacks side by side and remember one didn't work last night when i had it wired the right way? well it works the way they wired it but the problem is that even with a filter on i can hear DSL trying to connect??? |

Interesting, hopefully when you get the cabling in the house squared away that will resolve some, if not all of your problems. |
hey, im very confused why do i have 2 pair of wires not used at the nid? i should only use red and green, so why do i have a yellow and black and then a blue and white |

It used to be in residential building the cable only has 2 pair, the red/green and the yellow black. That way you had a spare pair or one that could be used for a second telephone. Yours just happens to be three pair. |
So i unhooked all the wires but green and red. because last night around 12 my modem just disconnected ever 10 minutes? very weird, and none of this has to do with that tech bypassing that one NID on the telephone pole? |

You're dealing with a couple problems. One is the cabling in your home. The other is because Frontier is having network problems in our area. Several of us have been experiencing the same or similar problems lately. |

Your house wiring is poor grade voice cable. Get Frontier to install a splitter in the NID, and you or they run a direct CAT5 or better run to the modem. |
i have a every long ethernet cable and what im going to do is, cut it get and the wires out of it and run it straight to a jack and then into the modem? can this be done let me know asap |
