Apparently it doesn't make a bit of difference...

I doubt it. They certainly haven't added any HD channels I'd be interested in lately.

With the recent completed contract between Turner and Verizon, I am wondering if Verizon will be adding TCM in HD?

Has any VHO had the Sundance move to channel 235 yet?

My VHO7 is usually one of the last so just wondering when it might take place..

what does the lack of HD have to do with this thread? All that was happening on 10/1 was channel numbers changing, which in typical Verizon fashion, didn't happen.

Style is now Esquire TV (160) ... and their original programming is in HD. Travel shows, Mens shows, autos, etc. Shame it's not carried on Verizon in HD like every other provider.

OVATION TV is a fine arts channel, that is perfect for HD. Again, we only get the SD version.

I've never heard of half of those channels you mentioned and TV Land is probably the only one I've ever watched. Does TV Land have any HD content?

TV Land has a bunch of decent or highly rated 1st run Sitcoms, such as " Hot In Cleveland" w/Valerie Bertinelli & Betty White, & "The Exes", among others, Broadcast in HD....

I agree. Adding these niche channels in HD doesn't help most subscribers at all. Although I subscribe to HBO, I don't see the need for 14 HBO HD channels.

Actually there is a Sundance HD channel, only Verizon doesn't carry it. The only major carriers that offer it on a widespread basis are DISH and Brighthouse (per AVSforum).

Have you actually checked that folder lately? There are a whopping 8 movies available.

was Sundance on Extreme or Prime before? Or was it Only always available on Ultimate?

It was in the Extreme HHD package too.

Not in NJ. It was previously only available in the Ultimate HD package or as part of one of the movie packages.

I also hope that with the changing of channels being moved to different locations: That it does not effect that I can now receive "This" channel, but in its new area I can not.

Just saw this thread.

I often forget to look for Sundance given where it is on the SD lineup. I might now remember to look for it, since it will be near TCM and AMC. I often search in SD, then hit 'C' for hd version. Now if they will just add HD's for these 2 ........ (That and OVATION HD and TVLAND HD)

[Channels] .

>>ike1: I'd love to see Top of the Lake, which was supposed to be an excellent miniseries

It was quite strange and while I usually like strange, after watching it there were portions in it that made no sense and I sort of wish I'd not wasted my time. It very well could be that it will be available via Sundance On Demand as they change their On Demand offerings with some regularity--at least they did when I had Comcast (got FiOS 6/3/13).

>>mac973: Interesting that it's not included in the Extreme tier in NJ.

Ooopppsss!!! I just looked at my notes again and realized I misread my handwriting. Sundance is not included in Extreme (at this point) and the reason I have it is because I got the "fully loaded entertainment package" (1/2 price for a year) and Sundance is included in that so I guess I am paying for it...'-}}

Sorry about that...

[Channels] Re: October 1st Channel Changes

The same thing happened with IFC a while back. It converted from a premium or semi-premium channel with no commercials (or limited commercials) to a basic cable channel with the usual full load of commercials. Now Sundance, owned by the same AMC/Rainbow creeps since 2008, is apparently making the same conversion to basic cable.

I have the Extreme tier. I'd love to see Top of the Lake, which was supposed to be an excellent miniseries, but it probably won't still be available from Sundance HD On Demand by October, assuming it even still is now. (There are several channels like this that offer free HD On Demand on FiOS but aren't available as regular HD channels, presumably because of bandwidth issues.) Even if we had the HD channel, it would probably look terrible, like AMC HD and IFC HD do, because AMC/Rainbow is stingy with the bandwidth. It's often blocky. And I don't even usually notice these things.
