Re: New Data Caps said by Magnum3667:while once again screwing their lower tier users
smart marketing if you ask me. you want more GB upgrade is what they are saying. I was lucky I stuck with the 50/5 plan I had. Granted I still don't get my 5 up but chad is helping with that. |

 | how is that smart marketing? thats called greed...so not only did they scew the people that cant pay 100+ dollars out of an upgraded cap, they have now screwed over the people that upgraded thinking they needed a higher cap paying more than what they were but getting stuck with a lower cap because of this new "grandfathered" stuff they just added to the two top tiers....i dont know how anyone can think that is ok or " smart marketing" |

Online MAX grandfathered customers will get Prime Plus (30 MB where available) and 350 GB usage
Ultra 50 grandfathered customers will get 105 MB speed, and 2 TB usage allowance. Non-Grandfathered will have 1 TB allowance
Ultra 105 grandfathered customers will get 105 MB speed, and 3 TB usage allowance. Non-Grandfathered customers will have 2 TB allowance.
Chad your prior info screwed me. I was on a grandfathered ultra 50 plan. I saw your post about everyone being switched to metered plans and switched my plan about a month ago. Now I'm paying full price for ultra 105 with a 1 terabyte monthly limit. Can this be fixed I feel really fucked over. |

I just called mediacom. The first lady I talked to initially claimed not to know anything about Chad's new grandfathering info. She then looked it up but came back with the wrong information and she was obviously confused and just trying to get me off the phone. I asked to be connected to customer retention and that person claimed Chad was lying (lol) and wanted the address of the site I was reading this info and his full name.
I only switched to 105 based on emails from mediacom and info from Chad that everyone was being forced into the 1tb metered plan. I had been paying $109.99 for over a year to keep my "grandfathered" ultra 50 plan. So I paid $30 a month extra for over a year only to get sucker punched in the last few weeks. |
|
 | A LOT of people got screwed over by this. If there was even one viable option for internet I'd leave.. but... centurylink with their wonderful 1 d/l speeds won't do it for me.
All I know is I better have 3tb of data allowance showing up real quick instead of this 999gb I'm seeing. |

Hey everyone! I want to clear up some confusion here about what is going on with the new allowances.
All Ultra 50 customers will have a 1 TB allowance
All Ultra 105 customers will have a 2 TB or 3 TB allowance, depending on which service you are subscribed to.
Grandfathered Ultra 50 customers were moved to the Ultra 105 service to make up some differences in price between the old and new services.
There is a graphical error on the usage meter showing some customer having Ultra 50 with a 2 TB allowance. Also, some Ultra 105 customers are still showing 999 GB. This is being addressed and should be fixed soon.

So I'm just shit out of luck then Chad? It's not even possible to call and negotiate with customer service if they're going to claim your information on grandfathering people is fictitious. |

MediacomChadMediacom Social Media Relations TeamPremium,VIP join:2010-01-20 Gulf Breeze, FL kudos:82 | If you were on grandfathered Ultra 50 plan, you would now have the same Ultra 105 speeds with a 2 TB allowance that you have now.
I noticed that the usage meter for your account still shows 999 GB. That is being addressed as well. |

If anything, this entire data caps SNAFU will teach us NOT to make any changes in haste to our accounts, because if we wait long enough, Mediacom will make further last-minute changes that might be better. |

So what of the price? If I hadn't changed my internet package and kept my grandfathered ultra 50 how much would I be paying for ultra 105 speed and a 2 terabyte cap right now? If the answer is ultra 50 price for ultra 105 speed, my complaint is pretty obvious.

So they were switched to ultra 105 and gained nothing for it? Is that what happened in your case GLIMMER?

How exactly were you lucky to stay with your grandfathered ultra 50 package if Chad's latest information is correct? |
|
 | its what happened to me. had i stayed on ultra 50, id been grandfathered and have a 2tb cap and ultra 105 speeds. ultra 50 costs 79.99/mo, now i pay for ultra 105 and get the same speeds cap as i would have had had i not changed plans. see this is what upsets me. so i guess i also took the bait, you get rewarded if you didn't take the bait. i think anyone who did what we did and got baited should get the 3tb cap at least. |

Yeah, I was paying a $30 premium for over a year to keep my "grandfathered" ultra 50 plan. $109.99 total with the $15 internet service only fee for my grandfathered ultra 50. Now I'm paying $99.99 total for ultra 105.
The information Chad just posted doesn't make any sense unless they're getting ultra 105 speed for ultra 50 price. This isn't nearly as complicated as it seems to be. Are grandfathered ultra 50 users getting the ultra 105 package for $79.99 a month or not? If they are there's no way I would have changed my service last month, losing my grandfathered ultra 50 status. |

no I would be paying the same 99.99 you are for 50 meg. I have a promo right now but it would be that price. They are including the 15 internet only fee in the price from the looks of it. just a guess tho. |
|
 | reply to MediaCon
Are the prices you guys are quoting inclusive of or excluding that $15 "fee"? I've been paying 74.95 for I don't know how long for 20/2 service including the $15 fee. |

 | reply to MediaCon
According to Chad's post, pre-August 2012 ultra 105 users are getting an extra terabyte added to their monthly cap. Pre-August 2012 ultra 50 users aren't getting any concessions, they're just being moved to a standard ultra 105 account and paying the old ultra 50 fee of $94.99. So possibly saving $5 if the mysterious internet only $15 fee was lifted.
Although none of this is specified in writing so good luck sorting it out definitively.

My standard rate for ultra 105 is $99.99 total without any promotions. The internet only fee was dropped.

You meant 105 meg right? So no benefit to your knowledge, at least until you can reference your new bill. |

Thanks for giving a precise and clear answer Chad and verifying the extra tb on the 50/5's is in fact just a graphical glitch. |

so what they are saying is this , (i'm gathering) GF ultra 50 customers were paying too much. so rather then ask them individually whether they wanted ultra 50 for 79.95/mo, they just upgraded them to keep their bills the same as they were before? is that what this all is about? if so why not just explain it that way? |
|

My usage meter shows my Ultra 105 Plus but only the 999GB datacap. When is this going to be fixed? Not too impressed with how this has all gone down so far... |

Well now I'm even more unclear than ever haha. All I know is my speed continues to be 100M down and it says my limit is 2000G per month. I have been on 50/5M package for a year or more. So I don't know what the heck to believe at this point.
Oh well I'm happy now at this moment anyway haha. Hope I stay where I am. |

It sounds like you were one who was upgraded automatically to the Ultra 105 package, which includes the 2000GB cap. |

|
 | If you've had the ultra 50 tier since May 2012, you're paying regular ultra 105 price anyway. You may actually be paying more than the standard $99.99 if you only have internet and haven't contacted them to get the $15 internet only fee removed.

hdtv00 join:2003-06-13 Silvis, IL | Yea bill was $85 lately although I think maybe they changed it to $80 not sure. I also own my own modem/router which takes off $5. Yes I only have internet service no cable or phone. But I did just promo for next 12 months right before they did this, my bill is $60 a month now for 12 months. So it looks like im paying 30M price getting 105 because I'm grandfathered + promo I just got 10 days ago or so. WOW for once I'm actually really happy with mediacom. |
|
 | Well $85 sounds like $79.95 + bullshit fees and taxes. Anyone else getting a $20 discount on ultra 105? |
