Re: New Data Caps I was displeased with their recent webspace decision and left immediately.... had been using cable tv since 1994 and internet since 1998.
Calling in and setting up the disconnect was quite the pleasant experience, and satellite tv has been a nice, positive change.
Attempted to send comments about why I left in a letter to corporate, but it got returned unopened. Nice touch.
k9iua6 is right though.... match the words with actions. Not sure corporate really cares, why should they? Some leave, some sign on, churn is expected. -- Humanity - The greatest natural disaster of all time. |

 | I only have internet and wish I could leave but frontier will be capping there service soon enough. Since mediacom did it there is no reason for frontier not to. |

I too left after being with them for 6+ years. The Internet service finally became unusable, so I switched to a slower speed DSL that ended up actually being a lot more reliable, and effectively faster. The Mediacom "up to" speed catch mostly resulted in speeds around 1Mbps during the evening hours.
A lot of people think the slower DSL speeds are not as good, but it's been my experience that slower speeds that are consistent are MUCH better then "up to" high speeds that drop to a crawl and fluctuate wildly during normal use hours (evenings and weekends for most). |

Oddly enough, I too seem to have learned that. I can now watch YouTube without endless buffering! -- Humanity - The greatest natural disaster of all time. |

For this reason I find the Mediacom's 3 Mbps Launch/Intro service to be sufficient most of the time. Ever since I replaced my dying modem last year, my two twenty-something kids, who are always streaming something to their laptops, haven't been complaining to me about the speed. The 3 Mbps service seems more consistent than our previous 12 Mbps service had been.
ADDED: And for me, the issue for streaming isn't so much the bandwidth (although HD is nice, I don't need HD) as long as the viewing experience is uninterrupted. Even with two kids streaming, we stay under 80 GB a monh. |
