Re: New Data Caps said by implode:I am very displeased with all of this. I was an early adopter and have used mediacoms internet services since it first became available. After the first year I have paid full price and not received a single break on the cost of things. I hate the new caps, and should still be grandfathered in. The new caps do one thing for me, they were the only thing keeping me anchored in and from quitting. Now that I can quit and have nothing to lose, I'm am more free then ever to cut and run. The minute a new competitor comes to town with better terms, I'm likely gone. Mediacom doesn't look out after older customers. Mediacom takes me for granted, that they have a monopoly in our town.
What they don't realize is Google fiber will be knocking on their door soon...and when they lose me for internet, I might just leave for TV services as well.
It is busch league how they violate the contract they have in place, but if I was wanting to leave out of contract they would pile on the fees. I think every time mediacom decides to change their fee structure they should have to pay a $250 penalty to the customers. They would learn in a hurry to live up to their part of the bargain. Just like all other ISP's, google will institute a cap eventually. Not sure why people are surprised about caps. |

Their whole point is to shame other ISPs. But their current footprint is so small and their build speed so slow they are almost irrelevant. |

Not sure why people are surprised about caps. well lets see, im pretty sure that "free" tv every where counts toward the cap (they dont mention that in the commercials of course), im also pretty sure all of the "extra" streaming services all so count, i.e. hulu next day viewing (requires a meiacom log in) adult swim "gold" (requires a mediacom log in) etc.. i think its funny how they "support" all these streaming services, then turn around and pull the capcrap |

My original post wasnt to get a hornets nets boiling. just observations to that mediacom can see there are a ton of displeasured people. I think they should've left well enough alone but when lots of money is to be made, some business' practice the art of greed fully. This company appears to be one. with that said, another long day on roof./ laterzzzzzzzzzzzzzz |

»Comcast Fights Google Fiber in Provo With New Pricing
Highly unlikely but not impossible. I think what people want (and Google understands) is a company that's equally interested in innovation and spreading these technologies to people broadly while being affordable. Delivering a high quality service and not fleecing customers at the same time.
I hope they step up the speed in which they expand into new markets. They have the money and power it takes to fight the stranglehold mediacom thinks they have in these markets. Mediacom will be forced to respond like comcast did in the link provided but it will be too late for a lot of people with the sour taste in their mouth |

I ditched one ISP, which implemented "cap-and-overage", for another with no caps; and got twice the speed for half the price. Alas, in most areas the Incumbents call the tune, and the customers dance, or do without. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |
