[Rant] Watch Those Weights!I bought two bags of Jolly Rancher candy today. Jolly Rancher is owned by Hersheys.
One bag was all lemon, the other assorted. They both cost the same price, but the lemon was more expensive!
The lemon was marked as 13 ounces, the assorted as 14 ounces. Both cost the same, but the lemon was more expensive per ounce. Now I could do without two pieces of candy, but it appalls me to see the the ways that any manufacturer goes about getting more money.
When you see a product that says "New Packaging" hold on to your wallet as the size of product has probably decreased. The size of the box may be the same, but the product has probably taken a hit! |

this has been going on for a very long time,, the one that sticks in my head the most is the 6pack lunchables from sams club, they dropped those an entire ounce per pack but kept the price the same. i know i know, but still.
whats even more annoying though is when the weights clearly do not match whats on the label, got a bag of black forrest gummie bears from them, divided them out and discovered they where 3 ounces short |

Kroger did this on multiple items also. Their yogurts I believe used to be 6oz. I go shopping the next week and they now had these little tiny 4oz yogurts, for the same price |

I feel like Dude111 even agreeing with you, but yeah this sucks. And don't even get me started on 16 ounce pop bottles.

Check a quart of mayonnaise- 30 ounces. Years ago a pound of coffee weighed 16 ounces. Now it's what- 12 ounces? We could all go on forever. Before long a tuna can will be empty. |

Pasta, too. The default for the major brands used to be 16 oz. Then 14.5. Then 14. Now it's 13 or even 12.
I never noticed it until it got under 14 when I stared having a lot less pasta left over after a meal. |

Around here 9-10 is max for simple cashiers. If you listen to the hoopla about jobs everyone who dos not have a masters is making 7.25 an hour. |

$9-10 sounds about right. I worked for the local Weis Markets about six years ago and cashiers were making minimum wage at the time. I'm sure by now it's gone up some but I have a hard time believing it went up past $10.
However, I want to say about 3 months ago, the local Aldis that's fairly new was advertising to hire cashiers at $12/hr. |

» www.glassdoor.com/Salary ··· 7337.htm has cashiers at an average of 11.60 » www.careerbuilder.com/Jo ··· h=JRKV0Bhas the listed rate at 12.50. What the hell are people bitching about the MW for! If a freaking cashier is making $5.00+ over the MW are there any jobs that pay it? |

Charcoal for the grill:
Was a 20 lb. bag Went down to 18 lb. Went down to 16.6 lb. Went down to 13 lb.
Price per bag stayed the same, price per pound has nearly doubled. |

Winston must have forgot to go back and "correct" the records. They are really increasing the rations and creating a "double plus good" situation. |

Walmart just reduced the sizes of their Great Value cookies and increased the price. Used to be 4 rows of cookies (16oz) and they were $0.99. Now it's 3 rows of cookies (12oz), and they're $1.24.
Meanwhile GV Fig Newt--bars it's still cheaper to by 2 small packs than to buy the family size bulk pack. |

I couldn't find the article, but about a month ago I read that shoppers prefer to pay the same price they've been paying for a product even if it means getting less of the product versus paying a higher price while keeping weight/quantity the same. |

I'm with you. When I buy a product that has less than what it used to have, I feel like the manufacturer of the product is playing games with me. In other words, they made a conscious decision to deceive me, their customer, and for some reason they believe I won't notice. In other other words, they think I'm stupid. |

Is that the same psychology behind the difference between for example $2.99 and $3.00 |
