I believe the best way to play this is to encourage chatter. People love to talk about themselves. It's just a matter of getting them a little comfortable and the floodgates normally open. Little gems can sometimes be found in the waters.
Having loss both their salsa kingpin and their illegal sugar kingpins in the last day/night cycle, the citizens of Townington felt the need for... not speed, but VENGEANCE! Like any good bloodthirsty mob (that was also hungry because they were out of salsa and brownies!), the town sought to mete out justice on whatever target was unfortunate enough to have crossed their path. That unfortunate S.O.B. turned out to be Jim, who was promptly strung up by his pinky toes upside-down until he was deader than the town's supply of corn chip enjoyment.
Jim: You are a dirty Mafioso thug. Your dirty partner in crime is Redacted, HA! , whom you may communicate with through messages. Dun dun duuuuuuuuuuuuun!
IT IS NOW NIGHT! SEND IN YOUR ACTIONS TO THE WANNABE MR. TORGUE FLEXINGTON!
Vengeance sated with the pinky toe upside-down hanging of Jim, the townsfolk of Townington retire to bed. Groggily, the town rose to the street. There was an uneasiness; troubled thoughts on troubled minds... that or the imported salsa was trying to erupt from all of their colons at the same time...
An hour later, the town came back after paying homage to Ralph to find out that it was not just the imported salsa that troubled them. Jim was no longer swaying in the wind; it was now:
ProtusMose: You are just a regular townie schlub, who sits around hoping not to get offed by dirty Mafiosos. You win with the town.
P.S. Jim's still dead
IT IS THE FINAL COUN--ERR, DAY, MANGZ! LYNCH OR LOSE, TOWNIES!
excuse me, but there was no reason to claim since I had not saved anyone and could not have provided any more information other than a regular town would. I would have just become a target.
If I had manage to save someone I could have stated who they were, at least, potentially clearing someone.
Your claim now would make players more inclined to think you are town just based on the power role alone.
During these games, I look at player motivations from a mafia perspective. "If I were mafia, how would I handle that" or "what would be my play". It helps find scum effectively, I found.
So when you claimed, I immediately thought it was a scummy move. We knew there wasn't a cop, or they would have revealed yesterday. There were no failed kills at night, so as scum I would feel confident that a doc claim would go uncountered. It would put me in a position where I could win the game quickly if people vote based on me being a doc..........
Which is why I waited for tmod instead of voting; to see if he had a counter. See, as scum, I would have definitely countered that doc claim. tmod said he was plain town instead. I'm leaning towards believing he is legit, and you faking the doc claim in order to look like your town and win the game.
There's definitely WIFOM in there, but that's how I think. I really think you're faking that claim.
