Lubuntu 13.04 Proprietary driversI was installing Lubuntu 12.04 on a Pavilion a320n. The display was all jacked up until I installed the nvidia proprietary drivers. I then realized that Lubuntu 12.04 is not an LTS, so it makes more sense to just install 13.04. The open source display drivers on 13.04 is not as bad as they are on 12.04, but it's still not quite right. However, in 13.04 the additional drivers area shows no proprietary drivers. What's the trick to getting them installed in Lubuntu 13.04? |

It looks like it may be a GForce4 MX chipset. Maybe there is a way to install them manually. |

Do not press enter, hit the tab key twice. It will give you a list of nvidia drivers by release number. Try the highest number, then reboot. |

Install the one that does not end in -dev. |

Ok, so I did install the 310. Software & updates shill shows no proprietary drivers, but the weirdness in the menus, and other screen anomalies seem to have gone away.
We'll see how it works. |
