 | Finding the MPOE I recently moved and have huge troubles finding my MPOE/phone box. An installer from sonic was luckless and my landlord does not know where it is either.
The line that the landlord thinks is the phone line comes from a pole and vanishes into the building without there being a box. Now, is there always a box? If yes, what is my next step in finding it? If not, well, what do I do about it?
Thanks for any replies. |

| Is this an apartment or other multifamily dwelling or is this a single family home ? For a single family home there will be a NID which is typically found outside the home but I have seen pictures where it was installed in the crawlspace underneath the house. For buildings with more then one unit you may have an MPOE where a single multipair cable from the telephone company terminates. Those are often in a locked closet to prevent mischief by tenants but your landlord ought to know that.
There is always a box because at the very minimum there should be a lightning protector. Unless yours is very old it will also have a test jack. -- Got some spare cpu cycles ? Join Team Helix or Team Starfire! |
