[Cable] Downstream / Upsteam Changes?

I have been having issues with signal strength for past few weeks. Still not fixed, and ticket is out to Rogers.

Today I checked my modem stats (SB6120) and it looks totally different (see below). Before for downstream / upstream, there was only 1 value. Now there are 3.

So is this generally a good thing? Has this solved my signal issues?

Downstream Bonding Channel Value
Channel ID 10 9 11 12
Frequency 651000000 Hz 645000000 Hz 657000000 Hz 663000000 Hz

Downstream Modulation QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256

Your signal stats are great. This is not the issue.

The power levels are great, but the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) is marginal, and there are also uncorrectable errors. So it does look like a possible RF issue.

Also, you have 3 upstream channels, but only one at 5.1Msym/s, this is only half way to a good thing (specifically, when everything is at the new standard, you should see two channels at 5.1 and one channel at 2.56. However, only getting 1 upstream channel is definitely BAD, so you've improved some..)

Have you applied a factory reset recently? If not:
»192.168.100.1 --> Configuration and then click Restore All Defaults, confirm, and then click Reboot

It depends if the Uncorrectable errors continue to increase. If they stay essenntially the same then it's not an issue. If they continually increase, there's a problem. Typically there should be more correctable errors than uncorrectable errors if a connection is having some trouble but is still working. Given the fact that there are virtually no correctable errors, and only uncorrectable errors, I suspect that those uncorrectable errors are quite old, possibly from when the modem was trying to first connect / reconnect, and are not occurring any more. amoallim may be able to tell us.

I get around 1,300 uncorrectables whenever I powercycle or factory reset my modem. After that, I never see them.

The fact it is you giving the advice makes me believe it must be. But just to double check, is this always a safe thing to do?

It is always* safe to do, but it isn't always productive to do. For example you will be losing information in the logs, and resyncing with Rogers could take longer than normal.

My general advice is, factory reset as a last resort, or because you know exactly why you are doing it. Don't confuse a factory reset with a routine modem reboot though, factory reset is an occasional thing, rebooting (aka power-cycling) is the first step of troubleshooting.

*: Not a good idea during a firmware upgrade, although even then not a guaranteed problem.

Was ya not getting channel bonding before? and did you just get the new FW patch? and now have full bonding?
