Cable over Sold? SDV swtiches to "default channel"

"Channel temporarily unavailable" why does it keep doing this?
and then changes to channel 407 "default channel"

It has been doing this every day randomly.

What are the signal levels on the TV channel with problems?

Power off the box, hit select, it should drop you into box diagnostics. Arrow down to "in band status" and hit select. It should give you a carrier lock, PCR lock, data, frequency, and SNR for that channel. Below it should be uncorrectable and correctable stats for the last 5 seconds.

Carrier lock, PCR lock, and data should all indicate "yes" SNR should be above 33 and "good". Errors should be 0. Make a note of frequency. It may overlap with an outside user, like FM, cell, OTA, etc. Post the stats or a screenshot of the screen.

BTW, 700mhz isn't a cable channel freq you should see on your modem, probably 699 or 705. SDV channels can be above or below that by quite a bit.

Is it having the problem now? Check the levels when the problem occurs.

I can immediate switch back to the channel pressing "last" on the remote.
But it's still very annoying just like the pop up ad's when you click on a link

From what it sounds like, you're describing an SDV timeout, which is normal behavior.

Usually you'll get a popup telling you to press OK to keep watching. If you don't then the channel will cut out. If you tune back to the channel again you'll be able to watch it.

Could just be a software/firmware issue with box causing it to not pickup the new channel right the first time.

Could be upstream signal noise getting in the way of the channel request. A second try might be getting through.

If it were "oversold" it really wouldn't be available so quick.
