SB6121 - Customer Owned - Firmware Upgraded

I know people were asking about the 6141 modem, It was out of stock when I had to buy one so I went with the 6121. I don't remember the older version I had but it was from 2010. I noticed my modem rebooted last night and checked and they just upgraded my firmware. (I also put in a service request for a tech to check my signals because TV and internet have issues every now and than so not sure if rolling out or manual upgrade)

Model Name: SB6121
Vendor Name: Motorola
Firmware Name: SB_KOMODO-1.0.6.3-SCM03-NOSH
Boot Version: PSPU-Boot(25CLK) 1.0.12.
Hardware Version: 5.0
Firmware Build Time: Aug 18 2011 10:27:53

Your modem was likely downgraded. That's an old firmware.

No, it was 2010 before that for sure. I believe firmware was 1.0.5 something

Oh, it must've been on the shelf for awhile. That isn't a "new" firmware. It's still fairly old, as indicated my the firmware build time.

I've had it with time warner for 2 months now. I just figured that was the firmware they were keeping everyone on. Thank you

I miss FIOS!

I suppose it's possible. My 6141 got updated last night to 1.0.6.12 and I live in Columbus as well.

I recently bought a SB6121, which also had firmware from 2010. I spoke to my contact at Oceanic, who was able to upgrade my firmware to this version:

My current firmware version in Honolulu:

Model Name: SB6141
Vendor Name: Motorola
Firmware Name: SB_KOMODO-1.0.6.12-SCM00-NOSH
Boot Version: PSPU-Boot(25CLK) 1.0.12.18m3
Hardware Version: 7.0
Serial Number: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Firmware Build Time: Mar 12 2013 17:48:19

I activated a new OEM (black) version of the SB6141 on August 8 and my firmware was upgraded from 1.0.6.6 to 1.0.6.12 on August 10. My understanding is that all the Motorola Surfboard (SB) modems use the same firmware so you will probably be updated soon.

That's nice.

But he has a 6121, not a 6141

IIRC, they use the same firmware.

Mine is still using the old SB612X-1.0.5.1-SCM00-NOSH.

It reboots a lot with the message "Cable Modem Reboot due to power reset".

Hope I can get a new firmware.

That's the firmware I used to have. "Cable Modem Reboot due to power reset" means it lost local power. Make sure its plugged in all the way and the outlet is good. Mine is plugged into battery backup.

Wouldn't hurt to call and see if they can upgrade your firmware. When I said I want a tech to come look at my signals it was upgraded that night.

The weird thing is that it's plugged in to the same surge protector as my Windows Home Server. The server has a uptime of over 11 days (since the last Windows Update wanted to restart), but the modem has rebooted with that message once or twice a day within that span.

This is what mine shows....having issues with my XFINITY connection dropping and picking up on its own very frequently...
