[DIRECTV] Receiver hr 24

Can anyone tell me if when I hook this receiver up to a 18/20 3 lbn directv dish. Will I be able to record? I understand I will not have HD but can I record in standard def?

Recording has nothing to do with the dish.
If you have a DVR receiver it can record anything you can receive.
