[Midwest] DSLAM Add-on

The picture shows a DSLAM (The larger box)

Anyone know what the smaller box on the left does? It was recently installed.

Thank you!

Yeah there is no picture there...

If I were to throw out a wild guess, they added a VRAD cabinet at an existing RT cabinet site maybe?

A picture would help though

My guess is right -- it is the cabinet that commonly houses Alcatel Lucent 7330 DSLAM shelves and cards, commonly called a VRAD.

Usually they are installed with VDSL2 line cards -- occasionally they are installed with ADSL2+ cards

U-Verse in some flavor will be available soon to those served from those cabinets

Would that just be U-Verse DSL?

Thank you for your answer and time.

If it will be set up with VDSL2 line cards, any combination of U-Verse TV, Internet, and/or Phone will be available

If it will be set up with ADSL2+ line cards, any combination of U-Verse Internet and/or Phone will be available

Rumors of U-Verse IPTV over ADSL2+ have existed for a few years now, but AFAIK it has not yet been deployed - and possibly may never be

Any idea on the length of time of implementation? It's in the country. WAY WAY from from the CO.

Thanks again for your time?
