House rebuild- destroyed underground cable
A year ago, I had a house fire and we are finally almost ready to move in. IE a month we hope(3weeks, doubt it). Previously we had an underground line that got destroyed. With the new build we are getting trenches dug for new utilities(gas, sewage, electrical). The builder said he would leave the trenches open to run other utilities underground. The old line got destroyed by digging out the foundation and was 20+ years old, will also be going to a different corner of the house. I know the Att Node is further away than what i can run personally, we had uverse before, are they going to try to charge an arm and a leg to get new cable run. There can not be a temp line for this since it has to run across a street i believe. I'm doing this with both ATT Uverse(TV) and comcast(Internet).
What are my options to do for a situation like this? I want uverse TV rather than comcast...
Thanks for any help,
I've seen them run temp lines across roads before. Both times I've seen this the road was just a neighborhood street with low traffic though.
| its not a internal neighborhood road. It gets a fair amount of traffic. I posted a screenshot from google. The house that only looks grey is the foundation(google doesnt update much here). Bottom right dot is our comcast and power hookup. Att goes to the 3rd dot which is somewhere right around there but cant say for exact.... Sorry for my bad drawing via paint.|

I guess you can just contact ATT and see what they say. They wouldn't need to run a new line all the way to the box regardless. The only section of the line that was destroyed was what was under your house. Whatever was left of the old line they can just scotchlok to a new cable from that point to the side of your house. Or they can switch you to another pair that runs near that isn't in use and just run the cable from that point.
When contacting ask for construction, not uverse....a uverse tech is at time of install, would lay a temp wire on ground that an outside contractor would have to come and bury...
You have an open trench, need construction to come lay new cable while still open.

Re: House rebuild- destroyed underground cable
There's going to be a pedestal for telephone somewhere within your group of homes.
To your house will come from that instead of across the street. As suggested earlier call and ask for the construction group at AT&T and explain your situation. You may also want to post is over and the AT&T Direct forum.
| Ok. Thank you for all the suggestions. I was wrong on the Vrad location but anyways.. So where exactly does the att main line that goes to a house come from? Obviously the connection goes to the vrad but does it go from the vrad to my house directly as thats about .8miles.. Would it go to a utility pole? Like the left piece of equipment on the pole with the orange cables? as i know the right side is a splitter for Comcast.. I dont see any other connection boxes around but I could be wrong...|
