[General] signs that 4g lte is coming to your area???
I live in an area that has no 4g service period.....and have been really wondering if we will ever get it. Nearest 4g area is 45miles away...BUT we're right by a major freeway.
Soooo things got interesting earlier tonight......was out and about this evening and the wife notices a 4g signal on her droid 4. I run several speed tests around 12mb down 3mb up. BUT only a 3g signal on my razr....so I reset it and bingo 4g signal. Then 2 hours later no more 4g signal on either phone.
WHat's up with that.....????
Running tests? Anyone remember experiencing short periods of 4g service before it's truely turned on? Even the town north of us with awesome 4g service is not on the official list of 4g areas.... Anyway just thought I'd ask. Thanks
You'll get it. I've been shocked twice. I live in rural area's that you would think would be the last place Verizon would be worried about. First it happened at my house. I was shocked.
Then, I was at my parents house dealing with the 3G which sucked, and the very next day, full bars of 4G.
Verizon already has over 80% of the 3G network 4G. by the end of the year they plan to have every 3G area 4G.
And it is fast. You may get 50 down and 10 up or some people get atleast 20 down and 5 up. Depends.
It's expensive but I pay for it as I have no choice. My only option is hughesnet and 4G from Verizon.
Although, with my phone I only get one bar which won't do anything. And sometimes shows 3G out in the country.
On my mifi device, I hook the 30 dollar external antenna to it and full 4G bars. And fast speeds.
If you add a mifi device to your plan, make sure to get one that allows for external antenna's. Most of them do. But they have one or two that does not allow for antenna's. Those are not for rural area's. Those are for people in the city that have full 4G service anyway.
It seems like wherever I go now, no matter how rural the area is, I have full 4G service. But not on my phone. Even though it's a 4g phone.

For a white, LTE signal was just like that here at my home. Phones would pick up LTE intermittently, but it would disappear consistently at certain times of the day. It still does that... sort of, and that's due to the fact that tower spacing where I am is pretty poor. If you're getting an LTE signal already, you've got it

thanks for the input guys....hopefully we actually get decent speeds when it arrives. 12/3 isn't my idea of fast...but better than 3g.
I'm shure VZW will eventually get everything switched to LTE frequencies & hardware...but I'll be amazed if the rural communities ever see decent speeds......
contractors that install and maintain towers have told me there's no way vzw will pour the millions it would take to upgrade the backhaul lines to the towers that are super remote and require atv or snowcat access only.....
maybe they're just down on vzw I dunno....but I hope they're wrong... be nice to have 4g while in the sticks

well I have unlimited on my razr so no real need for a mifi. Wonder if I could add an antenna to it......
ya most of our rural areas all have 3g (and hopefully 4g soon ) problem is out here there's rural.....and the rest is mountain wilderness. aka insanely expensive to give decent coverage.
