| YEA, i'm lucky I have such a clean line. I have yet to see anybody else numbers that beat mine! I have an install appointment, and there is a one-time $99 fee. So I am assuming they will pair bond, replace equipment, etc.. BUT we will see, and i'll keep this topic informed... -- Bill - Hinsdale, IL - »www.billhamel.net |

 | I'm also in the SW Burbs. I ordered the Power tier and was surprised about the $99 install fee. If I don't get the NVG589 I may just downgrade back to Max Turbo and wait for the speed boost. What do you think? |

Apparently due to AT&T not anticipating the upgrade demand, I goto an email stating this: "Important Installation Date Information Due to the overwhelming demand for service, the installation date and time you requested is not available. Your new installation date is noted above. This is the earliest available installation date and it has been automatically added to your order." AND the install date in now Thursday instead of Tomorrow...
I call shenanigans on this... -- Bill - Hinsdale, IL - »www.billhamel.net |

 | I got that same email. They shouldn't promise something they cannot fulfill. But then again, maybe they are waiting for the proper components to arrive before they can install it. |

Your line is about as clean as it comes (mad jelly) yes they will pair bond the 45Mbps tier and higher that is why they are charging an install fee as they going out and replacing the single pair lines with dual pairs for 45Mbps and higher. So if you have about 50Mbps right now at 1000ft it could be as high as 100Mbps dual pair but At&t will likely lower it to around 75Mbps according to a local tech here in North Texas and he said the reason why the Southwest region has not gotten 45Mbps yet is they are not wanting to rush it out here just yet and make sure everyone can get it at launch. He also said that yes it is in testing here but they are only testing it in select At&t employees homes right now. |

Like me. Supposedly launched in my area according to the official press release from AT&T. Yet can I get it? Nope. I call bullshit on that "make sure everyone can get it at launch" statement from AT&T. Okay let me rephrase that get all of the kinks out of the service as supposedly Dallas is one of the premier markets due to it being the home market for At&t not to mention the North Texas area alone is very large so they are probably having to go in and check things to make sure it is going to be compatible as we have a lot of areas with older cabling etc. I happen to live in an area that was built in the very late 70s and the cabling is not 50s style lol also my uncle lives in an area that was built in the 80s and he has a good line as UV Real Time showed a 63Mbps line capacity with a maximum rate of 50.623Mbps down. Raw downstream of about 40Mbps and 7Mbps up. I personally have TWC's 30/5 tier but I have a lot of family with Uverse so I stay in touch on what At&t is doing . |

I am hosting a AT&T U-Verse 45 Meg Tier "SPEEDWAVE" on speedtest.net and basically it is a link you click on to test your speed. The results of the people who used the SPEEDWAVE link are grouped together and stats/graphs are given based on those speed tests taken within the SPEEDWAVE. The SPEEDWAVE is for U-Verse 45Mbps tier users only PLEASE! If you use a different ISP or lower speed tier it will distort the results. The link is here: »www.speedtest.net/wave/4d4a99e24c0863bd
ANYONE can click the link and view the stats of the tests performed. -- Bill - Hinsdale, IL - »www.billhamel.net |

Installing pair at crossbox... | Installing pair at crossbox... | Installing pair at crossbox... | after install line stats | speedtest | | final line stats at NVG589 | NVG589 | PAIR BOND AT RG |
EXPERIENCE THUS FAR WITH 45Mbps tier install/upgrade: Part-way into install...and we need line tech. The pedestal has only 12 binding posts and we need 13 for the extra line for pair bonding. Waiting the few hours for him to arrive... UPDATE: Install complete. Removed bridge tap at pedestal, best line stats tech has seen yet... Really simple install. Add pair bond at crossbox, connect at pedestal, add pair in NID, connect pair bonded together into one RJ-11 jack, connect to NVG589...line sync! 45Mbps tier! Here's some photos of the u-verse tech at the crossbox adding a line into our "card" and the line stats on the single pair at the crossbox... Then before and after line stats using his handy tool.. Then a speedtest, using my speedwave: » www.speedtest.net/wave/462d0259b7980a35FINAL line stats at the RG, the NVG589... Some handy pics of the NVG589 and the pair bond into the RG. Just found out that my latency across the net has dropped in HALF. My first hop ping is 1/2 and further out it gets better. My IP is different now, but what's better is that my IP's Hostname better reflects my physical location. trparkyApple... YUMPremium,MVM join:2000-05-24 Cleveland, OH kudos:2 | You got it installed?
Trying to figure out how to configure the NVG589? If you could figure out how to config the 2Wire device, then you should be able to configure the NVG589. The 2Wire device (3800/3801) is by far the worst configuration user interface I've ever seen. Slow, bulky, and just to configure static LAN IPs is seriously a pain in the ass. And port forwarding? Don't get me started on that interface. -- Tom Tom's Tech Blog |
