Re: Need cable solution, 1200-2000m between possible AP

What would I need to get the antenna over 30 feet?

Since I never got any information from Comcast after a month of waiting and calling, I called at corporate level and was told I'd be contacted by the local manager. I got one call so far, putting off the conversation a day. I'm waiting for today's call from whomever handles service extensions.

The fact that I had to make contact through a formal complaint might hurt Comcast if I am not satisfied with the results of my efforts. I have the potential to convince my entire family(who are already dissatisfied) and some friends to discontinue service.

I learned that DSL is in fact a possibility, as long as 1.5Mbps is fast enough. It's no faster than what I use, but it's cheaper and unlimited.

If Comcast runs a line, The wireless link for my residence is no longer an option. However, the information from this thread is priceless to me and will be used in future endeavors.

i would get the DSL for now and call it a day. For higher speed short term needs you can tether like you been doing. As far as comcast running the line this wont happen overnight if they decide to do it. They have to get a contractor, lease space on the poles, and go through other red tape. The DSL can be up and running in a few days / week . If comcast runs the line later the DSL can be easily retired.

Comcast is not giving me any more info than I already have. It took 20 minutes to get across to the rep "I want to make a deal to get a line, or else I go complain to my friends and family, who are already dissatisfied with you, and they will likely discontinue your service"

Thats because your threat really holds no value. Do you really think they care about maybe losing a couple customers?

If you really want to find out about having them extend the plant or do whatever and get a quote on the buildout go post over in the b2b section and see if a Comcast business service reseller can get them to quote doing the buildout. I personally won't waste the time but you might find one that will.
