[INTERNET] D3GN-RES Firmware

Rogers will begin pushing firmware updates to our customers with these modems starting tomorrow in order to fix a bug. We don't have many customers with these modems as we've never provided them for sale/rent, but for those with bring-your-own D3GN's then this upgrade will be pushed down automatically for you.

The new firmware is SMC D3GN-RES 3.1.6.42.5 and will be required going forward after their upgrades are completed.

Thanks rocca! I suspect that upgrading to 3.1.6.42.5 will change SMCD3GN-RES to SMCD3GN-RRR.

My documentation doesn't indicate that, but I am certainly curious too. If I had to guess it'll be RES and they'll have a special load on it for TPIA customers. But that's a guess.

Still on 1.4.0.40...

The reason why they were RES was because they were running the Time Warner push of the 1.4.0.40 firmware.

As soon as the firmware is pushed out, they will be the same as Rogers branded D3GN modems, hence RRR.

Still on 1.4.0.40.. I've sent a couple of emails to customers on SMC to see if any have been upgraded.

Still not upgraded.. I'm sending a second round of emails to SMC users, but so far no sign of any action at all on this one.

We haven't been given a date nor an update so I suspect this hasn't rolled out yet.

And two days after I bring it up, the firmware is now updated! Talk about unexpected
