Yeasu ft 60r memory naming

I am going to get the Yeasu ft60r on friday, i would like to know if you can name memory banks themselves? like memory bank 1 Duluth mn 2 Minneapolis mn 3 Yuma arizona and so on. reason I travel alot and naming to represent a city would be nice to easily locate the repeaters for that area.

You can download the manual from the Yaesu website.

Well if it's anything like my 7800 you can name them anything you like, but the radio is still going to call them banks 1-5... IOW, on mine I have to remember what each bank represents.

If it is that way you might program in a "dummy" channel in the first slot of each bank with the name you want.

my father-in-law does this with his 8800, He does what was suggested. The first channel of each bank is the name of the bank. So when you press one it puts the name of the bank on the screen, hence telling him which one he is in.

What a clever idea!

Radios today have so many channels that "wasting" one to serve a function like that has no impact on the overall use.

hehe you know I actually haven't done this yet, I thought of it as I was typing the reply.

I may need to take my own advice and try it out!
